Off the beaten path TV series suggestions

I'll get it started. I recently watched a couple of British series that I loved, I suggest you check them out.

Survivors - watch it on Netflix.

It's about a flu pandemic that kills 99% or more of the worlds population and what happens next to the survivors. It's kinda like "the Walking Dead" without the zombies.

Misfits - watch it on Hulu.

It's about a group of not so well adjusted 20-somethings that are doing community service and get "super powers" in a freak storm. It's kinda like "Heroes" only not so "end of the world" serious and very funny.

Sherlock - watch it on Netflix.

It's a modern day adaptation of "Sherlock Holmes". Just a good crime drama and a slightly funny.

Please throw out some suggestions if you have any.

    Portlandia - on Netflix
Not the biggest Fred Armisten fan on SNL, but this is pretty funny. I think I like it mostly because they make fun of hipsters, yuppies, libs, etc.

A bit less off the beaten path than some that've been mentioned so far, but these are a couple lesser-seen ones.

Alphas- kind of a spin on the x-men idea
Chuck- not many seem to have watched it, its worth a watch if you havent. a unique sort of action-comedy. Chevy Chase and Timothy Dalton both have some great roles in the seasons theyre in.

Misfits is a great show. Spy on Hulu is pretty good, so was the one season of Whites.

Freaks and Geeks is a great show that ran for only one season. The cast has a half-dozen big names in it, many of them had a big start on the show. I loved it.

    Emergency! on netflix

Good stuff - early 1970's paramedic show that isn't too bad, other than being odd in how they are dispatched. Well, that and they don't appear to have met a red light that they don't run.

The entire Stargate saga. Got through SG-1, am more than halfway through Atlantis, and I have Universe yet to go.

Spaced -Watch on Netflix. British comedy starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost from Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz fame. Hilarious show, unfortunately only two seasons of it but the episode where Simon Pegg plays too much Resident Evil 2 and starts hallucinating everyone as zombies is great.

I agree. My wife has the dvd set and we just got done with the series. Can't imagine why it didn't stay around longer.

I'm just about done with Firefly right now, good sci-fi show. It's nice because it didn't last more than a season so you're not out a ton of time. Great cast on the show.
