A Solution to NCAA BCS Mess

I made this while I was watching the BORING AZZ Bama/Lsu game, and thought this method looks A LOT better than what I was forced to watch.

    My thoughts is:
1.) Each of the 8 top ranked conference champs into an 8 team playoff.
2.) All other good teams that did not win conference (bama, stanford etc.) play in the money bowls (yes I know they wouldn't be as prestigious, but still great match-ups).
3.) This method the only fair and LESS-BIASED way to crown a National Champ. No more ESPN talking heads debating and promoting. No more EYE TESTS. You win your conference, your in the tourney.
4.) SEC fans would hate this, but why wouldnt they want to see their best team compete against the rest of the country's best teams.
5.) Would make conference championship games even more exciting, and make weekly games more meaningful.

Let me know what you think. Thanks.

But how does Notre Dame get a national title? That is part of the whole problem right?

They'd be forced to join the Big East where the rest of their athletics already are. And there would have to be a rule each conference must have 12-14 teams or something. But they get the auto-bid to the Lou Holtz bowl just incase.

Left side of the bracket is pretty easy for the SEC to win.
Conference USA, Big 10, and ACC.

Expand to 12 teams. Give top 4 seeds bye's and include 4 at-large bids. This includes the good teams that might not have won their respective conference (i.e. Bama, Stanford, KSU, etc.)

Mad props to the Lou Holthz Bowl! Hilarious!

Re: A Solution to NCAA BCS Mess

BCS ratings would still be great for seeding the top 8 champs and selecting the top 8 champs.

Computer component should be 1/2 instead of 1/3 though.

I'm against at-large bids. If you didn't win your conference, you don't deserve to go.

Will NOT happen. The teams in the championship game would end up playing a 16-game season! Football is a bad enough sport from an injury perspective, and people want to make it as long as an NFL season for some teams? Forget it.

The +1 thing is getting all the support now, and likely will happen. It is a GREAT compromise. The players playing in the championship game only have to play one more game than most other blow-playing teams.

15 games. - only one more than plus one and the same that the d-2 champ usually plays.

Re: A Solution to NCAA BCS Mess

This eight team playoff has TCU and Southern Miss in? I don't think conference USA or the Mountain West should get an automatic bid. Have the top 2 seeds get a bye and the remaining four teams play each other.

Re: A Solution to NCAA BCS Mess

All these senarios that reward the same top 20 teams every year financially... really hurts ISU.
