Why is Andy apologizing to WOI on-air?

Listening to Murph and Andy today for the first time in a while. Andy's apologized twice now for calling WOI to try and figure out where to watch the ISU-Texas game. Anyone know the story behind this?

Listened to it yesterday. Hassel actually did the call. He had a disguised voice and acted like he was an out of sorts ISU fan wanting to watch the game and just wanted to know what channel it was on. Couldn't believe WOI took it seriously.

They also called Mediacom and Rockstar satellite.

They did call WOI, but it was in the forum of a prank call. I must add that it was extremely hilarious.

Re: Why is Andy apologizing to WOI on-air?

The whole show was based on calling and bugging stations/ cable/ satellite providers about LHN. It was damn funny.

I would like to know who got their panties in a bunch, and to what extent or even why. The whole time Andy reads his apology, I think he could bust out laughing. Almost like the apology is a joke too.

His apology is completely monotone and emotionless. There is no question its forced.

I think it might have been their best segment yet.

Damn!! I listen to the podcasts so I don't have to listen to all the commercials and I wondered why they didn't podcast the second hour. Now I know and am sad I didn't get to listen to it.

Did he ever tell them they were on the air? He might be apologizing, because putting somebody on the air without notifying them is a FCC violation.

They defiantly did not notify them.

They may have taken it down, but it was up this afternoon when I listened to it. It was pretty good. They picked on the national Mediacom rep pretty good as well. At least with her they didn't disguise their voice. The local Mediacom person called them and seemed pretty ****** about the whole thing.

Re: Why is Andy apologizing to WOI on-air?

Ray Cole, station manager at WOI, called into Marty Tirrell yesterday and went off about it. Said he had already called Joel McCrea and was going to be contacting the local/regional FCC rep. Really PO'd about it.

Of course Marty beat it to death and made it sound like it was a matter of public safety that phone lines at a TV station would be tied up by such nonsense. Even suggested both Hassell and Fales could/should lose there TV jobs over it.

I'd really like to know what Ray Cole first thought when Steven Colbert made fun of them.

Marty's just jealous that he doesn't have Hassell on his show.
