****. Just an absolute hell of a guy. First time my family went to the Big 12 tournament was the year Fizer, Tinsley, et al won it against OU and Najera. Our seats ended up being directly in front of Mike and his wife. Then ended up sitting near them for football for the last, I don't know how many years. Just sucks. He'll be missed.

Re: Mike Lacey - Retired Pres. Cyclone Gridiron Club has died

I knew he was in hospice and it's heartbreaking to hear that we lost such a good man and dedicated Clone. I got to know Mike well during gridiron road trips, and I'm not sure but I think he may have even been President of the gridiron club at one time. My prayers for Mike and his family and our Cyclone family lost one of our best.

Re: Mike Lacey - Retired Pres. Cyclone Gridiron Club has died

After reading the article on Mike I see he was once president of the gridiron club and he was instrumental in starting the gridiron club. Rest in peace my friend.

Huge Iowa State fan and more importantly, a good man! My thoughts and prayers are with Karon and her family.

Well that sucks. We sat next to he and Karon at basketball games for a couple years and he was the kind of guy you really felt like was a friend even though you only saw him for a couple hours a few times a year.

Re: Mike Lacey - Retired Pres. Cyclone Gridiron Club has died

"Lacey graduated from Iowa State in 1966 with a bachelor’s degree in distributive studies."

This is why we shouldn't bad mouth perceived "lesser" majors. This was the equivalent of "Bachelor of Liberal Studies." Sometimes talents, over which we have no control, really play no role in one's contribution to society. Rather, it is often our work habits and a willingness to give, for which we are remembered.

Re: Mike Lacey - Retired Pres. Cyclone Gridiron Club has died

He was a great guy and a lot of fun. Got to know him on the trip to the army game. Stayed up way too late with him and his boy after the game. Always said hi at games when I would see him and he always was in a great mood. He got me re-engaged with the CYCLONES. He will be missed. RIP Mike.

Re: Mike Lacey - Retired Pres. Cyclone Gridiron Club has died

I am pretty sure he has court side season tickets. Marketing should do something with his seat to remember him...place a "commemorative" sign on the chair, replace it with a black chair or just make sure it stays vacant the rest of the season..?
