197 Keldrick Hall (OU) vs Cole Shafer
285 Kyle Colling (OU) vs Matt Gibson

Probably don't see results being alot different. Mike Moreno should of had that win at 157 in the 1st dual. Hopefully the recent win gives him some confidence and can get it this time.

I don't think Luke Swalla will get TF by Lester as Cozrt did.

Mikey England needs to step up and get this win, he is fully capable of doing it.

I agree with this being the way.

I actually think that Goettl could really push Maple. He is the weakest #1 ranked wrestler in the country. I truly believe if he grappled in the Big 10 he would probably have 2-3 losses by now. He is benefitting from favorable matchups. And Goettl has shown more progression than any other wrestler. I would also like to see how muhc better Moreno and Finch are getting. If Finch closes the gap I will feel better about him qualifying and scoring for us at nationals. Moreno was close the first time, and that was when he was absolutely not doing anything on the mat. He gets a win here, that would be awesome. Also hope Shafer shows us something at 197, and Gibson looks like the good Gibson at HW. I think Gibson has bonus point potential there.

Also see that Tyler Christensen is mentioned as a possible starter at 197.

Christensen has been wrestling at 184. Wonder if that is a typo? Any thoughts?
Beard may be hurt again and possibly Christensen filling in for him?

Listed at 197, so got to think we need to try something different at 197, I thought Trevor Voelker might make the trip.

Re: Iowa State vs Oklahoma Round 2

Sorry, off topic I know, but has anyone seen the brackets for national duals? I've seen the groupings, but I haven't seen the bracket for each region.

    I don't think they've seeded D1 yet. Matches are 11 AM, 1 and 3 on Sunday Feb 12th in Ames. 1st and 2nd seed don't wrestle until 1

Re: Iowa State vs Oklahoma Round 2

I imagine seeds will come out the week prior to the 12th. Iowa State wrestles UNI on Feb 3rd.

Re: Iowa State vs Oklahoma Round 2

I hope we beat UNI and that should give us 2nd or probably 3rd seed, opposite of Iowa.
    We beat Virg Tech,
If we beat UNI, they beat Wisconsin
That would leave us and Oregon State as possible #2 seed.

OREGON STATE OFFICIAL ATHLETIC SITE - Wrestling

Oregon St. lost to Mizzou 11/25/11 21-18
Oregon St. beat Arizona St. 1/8/12 32-18
    Oregon St. wrestles Oklahoma 2/3/12

it really seems like a win for us over Oklahoma and a loss to Oklahoma for Oregon St. might get us the #2 seed.

either way i think we are the 2/3 seed and on the opposite side of the bracket from Iowa.

Re: Iowa State vs Oklahoma Round 2

This will be a big dual for us to see how much we've improved underneath. Some of our freshman had saddles on 'em last time. We're wrestling a lot better now. The results of the dual may or may not look much different, but that doesn't mean we can't show some strides.

I think Finch is already an automatic qualifier. What he's fighting for is whether he'll be able to put himself into AA contention.

Right now I expect us to send 6 to St. Louis in March: Finch, Goettl, Sorenson, Spangler, Beard, and Gibson.

Re: Iowa State vs Oklahoma Round 2

Any news on Spangler? Will he be able to make it back this year?

I think this meet should go pretty well as long as we can avoid giving up a ton of bonus points in the lower weights. Goettl has looked very good as of late, would be huge if he could pull the upset. Moreno looks to be in better shape and could keep wrestling tough.
I think these two are the key to winning.

Based on what Jackson said in the last "ask the coach", I got the impression they expect him back sooner rather than later. But with concussions you never know.
