wife is having a C Section

good news a new Cyclone fan is coming Thursday morning.

bad news, well not terrible news, but we have to have a C Section, any words of wisdom fellow Cyclones, to calm this nervous dad down.

Scary stuff. My wife is due in early May and I'm really hoping we don't have to go down that road. Good luck to you, hope everything goes well for mom and baby.

Re: wife is having a C Section

    My wife had two!

Went easy as can be and there no problems. My wife is happy they came that way.

    Congrats!

    Congrats to you guys

It's probably not any consolation to you, but I was a C-Section baby and turned out just fine

We prefer to call them CY-sections here.

A scary thing to go into, but a very common procedure. Good luck dad.

Don't look behind the curtain if you aren't prepared to see her spilled out all over the place.

Both me and my brother were birthed via C-Section. I think it's a pretty common/routine procedure these days.

It was rare back in the eighties, but now it happens half the time.

Re: wife is having a C Section

Not to get to personal but is there no other way? I say that because C sections are generally not a good thing. Recoup time is much, much more and I can't imagine them being as special to the mother. Unless there is some serious medical issues going on I would push back on the doctors.

One good thing? Her lady parts won't get wrecked....

Re: wife is having a C Section

I have three kids, the first one vaginal and the other two c-section. My wife, if given the option, said that she would choose c-section. Both have fairly difficult recoveries, but she said the c-section ones were easier. As far as the fear, I understand. My middle was an "emergency" c-section because his heart rate was dropping during contractions. Everything went fine and we chose to have a scheduled c-section for the third. Good luck with everything.

Re: wife is having a C Section

No worries on the c-section--our daughter was born that way after she became stressed in the womb. Opted for the c-section and had a birthday party in 20 minutes. :)

I HIGHLY recommend getting a little HD video camera (something like a Flip) to take videos of your newborn when you leave w/ the child. Take videos as you can, then you can show your wife while she is getting sewn up and in the recovery room, as it will be a while until she can see the baby. Didn't plan on this, but it worked out very, very well.

    Good luck!

Re: wife is having a C Section

Kidding aside. My wife had 2 c-sections as well. The first recovery was better than the last. Part of the process. "This too shall pass" definitely applies. I think my wife was more stressed out about the breast feeding than the recovery. your wife will be wiped out for awhile as will you. Welcome to parenthood. The best thing ever.

    First off, congratulations.

Our daughter was born via C-section. It went fine. Really fast, too. We checked into the hospital at 7AM, gave my wife her anesthesia at about 7:20, started cutting around 7:30, and my daughter was born at 7:47.

For recovery, you'd have to ask my wife, but she wasn't ever hampered from holding the baby or anything like that. She was able to hold the baby right away, was up and walking within a couple days, and recovered in 2-3 weeks.

Ours was medically necessary, and any future children will need to be done that way as well, but on the whole I was very pleased. I will say it's pretty odd to watch the procedure, though. I sat right behind my wife's head and was able to watch them do pretty much everything. It's not for the faint of heart. Don't eat a big breakfast, or just maintain eye contact with your wife the whole time.

Re: wife is having a C Section

Our kids were born naturally, but we have several friends who had C-sections who say they are the best way to have a baby.

My wife went the other way. 3 kids, one of which took 18 hours, and no epidural on any of them. Two of them she even skipped the Demerol injection that was "supposed to take the edge off."

    Tougher than me.
