    Doug vs Harrison

So what if HB plays the big boys. Those ACC teams score a lot of points versus MVC. CU put up 90 points last night mostly because Doug opens up a lot of opportunities for his teammates. He had 25 points and 11 boards. He is ion a roll and his career stats may be better than HB in the end. He went over a 1,000 points and he is shooting 62% from the field and 53% from three. He hit all none free throws last night. I aw the dejected SIU team at the airport this morning. They were manhandled by CU last night. Doug is looking like an all american in my book. He does it all. He blocks out, He passes. He maneuvers. He gets good position. Much better than his Dad as a player. So who do you think has had a better career so far?

No point obsessing over Doug though, because his dad had fostered an environment to which we were never going to have a chance at him.

ACC is 6th best conference versus 9th for MVC. Maybe they do not have as many studs as you think. B12 is 2nd.

    USATODAY.com

UNC is 10th and CU is 15th in sagarin.

    Not much difference.

CU played 74th toughest schedule and UNC 110th.

    Hmmmm.

Best player from each state - Dougie gets the nod from KenPom.

    Royce did not take Minnesota.

Jake Koch shows up as Wisconsin's best also. BTW, was Doug recruited by anybody but mid-majors?

I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

    Hmmmm.
The fact that the ACC isn't very deep this year doesn't mean UNC is lacking elite talent. Going back to the 2001-2002 season, Tyler Hanborough (two times) and Rashad McCants (once) are the only players to average 20 points or more per game. Michael Jordan's career average was 17.7 ppg.

McDermott is a great player, and I'd love to have him in Iowa City. But Barnes is better, no doubt about it.

    Re: Doug vs Harrison

From what I have seen between the two, McDermott plays a smarter floor game and is more instrumental to his team.

McDermott's a very heady player, I won't deny that. And any player who's got even fringe NBA talent on a mid-major will be pretty dominant. He's more instrumental because he plays at Creighton. If you put Barnes at Creighton, and he'd be just as instrumental. But Barnes plays with several NBA prospects. The load is shared more evenly.

    Re: Doug vs Harrison

Doug is still second in scoring with no close third. The top six show Doug and a kid from maryland. Doug is 16 fgm ahead of next person. Raymonte Rice of Drake is in top 50 with no HB. Doug is 8th in country in fg %. Doug is 49th in free throw percentage. Doug is 70th in rebounding. If he shot more threes, he would be in top three in three point percentages at 53%. You need 2.5 threes made per game to be rated. Chris Babb is at 38% and rated #66. Royce nationally is tied for first with one triple double. Just saying that Doug has stepped up his game from last year and Harrison's team is similar in rank and had a weaker schedule to play to date.

Kudos to Doug for having a great year. However, if both were transferring to your school and you are the coach who had one spot available, who would you take? Who would his dad take (other than because he is his son)? If you say Doug, I don't believe you.
