I'm going to be visiting NC over spring break and thought I might want to drive. Are there any must see places/experiences that I should check out on the way to ease the monotony? I'm not concrete on route so I'm open to whatever as long as it's not an hour or more out of the way(only looked at mapquest suggested route so far). I appreciate any advice and/or thoughts. Thanks! Go Cyclones!
Sorry to hear u have to spend time there. I was stationed at Camp Lejeuene for around 2 years. Can't think of a worse place ive ever spent time in & ive been all over. Enjoy the strip clubs, pawn shops, mr. moneys & tattoo shops! I would head south an hour to Wilmington, there was some decent stuff there.
It's pretty much a 2 day drive so how much time do you actually want to actually spend in Jacksonville? I assume you are leaving from Ames. Judging by the route on Mapquest you could probably make detour through eastern Kentucky. On the way back you might want to take a detour through Smokey Mountain National Park. Not sure how the foliage would be at that time of year.
They say country music speaks to the heart. Unfortunately, it has to go through your ears to get there.
