    I like Allen's comments

    From the register this morning:

I dont want to make excuses, but you watched the game just like we all watched the game, Allen told reporters. Its our fault we let the refs keep them in the game, and had a couple BS calls that kind of made us sink down a little bit.

He is exactly right. The refs decided that KU needed some help, that is not uncommon. However, ISU seemed to "buy in" to the officiating. I hope this team learns that, if/when this happens again, they need to overcome all 8 opponents. I like this attitude and think it will serve the team well in the future.

    Re: I like Allen's comments

I thought the comment might be about him apologizing for his asinine shots in the second half.

Can't he get suspended for talking about the refs

That was my thought about refs...toeing the line on commenting about officiating.

Chris Allen isnt why we lost. He had some wild shots, but he also made some great shots. He had 17 points and one less turnover than Royce.

    Re: I like Allen's comments

The negativity that many fans have for Allen really surprises me. ISU doesn't build that first half lead without him. Plus he is emerging as a much needed team leader. Sure he struggles at times, but he is not a point guard and is still learning to play the position. He's playing out of position for the good of the team. Let's give him credit. Not tear him down.

Exactly. Its a team effort. We had lots of guys taking **** poor shots in the second half. We had what, 17 turnovers to KU's 7? That wont win you games.

I saw some bad CA shots at the end as Scotty stood around. We have no game finisher as Royce was double teamed. We had people open but we failed to try to find them enough. Here is an attaboy for Booker. He has done well lately.

Agreed. I've called him out a couple times but clearly his play has stepped up big time with the start of conference play. Allen's continued improvement is crucial if we want to get to post season play. I'm rooting for him......

Isu fans like to bag on the focal point of the team. See Arnaud,Steele,Diante. It will always go on here

    Re: I like Allen's comments

I get as frustrated with Allen as anyone. He's just going to be one of those lightning rods. I get upset when he gets in the poor-shot-selection mindset, but half the time I still think it's going to nail those shots.

In that regard, he isn't so different from the rest of the team. We have 8 or 9 players with flaws and strengths, but each has a different flaw, and varied upside. I suppose Allen stands out because his flaw seems to be outside the context of the team (he sometimes looks like he wants to do it all himself).

This is going to be a thrilling and sometimes puzzling unit ... it's becoming more "good" than "bad." If that continues, the next two months could prove to be a satisfying ride.

Chris Allen = Curtis Stinson. A guy who could be the spoon to stir the Cyclone drink, but instead much of the time chooses to get his.

    Re: I like Allen's comments

Allen is also one of the few players that can create his own shot on this team. I like the guy, he has a scoring mentality, its just we have so many threats on offense he needs to sacrifice his scoring mentality to make us better.
