    Who has been to Aruba?

Going to Aruba in a week for a destination wedding. What are some things I need to check out and what should I stay away from?

I don't need to hear anymore Natalie holloway comments. The wife and I hear it every time it gets brought up. Get a leash, keep an eye on her.

Sit on the beach and drink for a week? That is what we do on vacation.

Re: Who has been to Aruba?

We just rent a car when we are there and go see what we want. The island really isn't that big. 20 mi. x 6mi. The natural Bridge is really cool, on the Atlantic side of the Island. Big waves, it's pretty impressive. The lighthouse = meh, it's a lighthouse. The Italian restaurant that was there the last time we were there was really good though. Downtown Oranjestad is pretty cool, although touristy as that is where all of the cruise ships dock. Really though, it's a tiny Island, it's all pretty touristy. Great cigar shop there though, if you are into Cuban cigars.

If you don't plan on going on a snorkeling expedition, then make sure you hit baby beach. It's a little alcove right off of the ocean. The water is very calm and clear, but there is an outlet that goes out into the main surf and a lot of fish hang out there by the coral. You'll see a ton of fish, watch out, they'll come up to you looking for food.

There's a big hill on the Island too, I don't remember what they call it, but my wife and I climbed as well. Pretty easy 560 feet and paved. You really only need a day to see the whole Island. My wife and I would take the bus into downtown if we wanted to get away from the resort for a bit. Be prepared though, it's very European driving. A lot of circles instead of intersections and the locals there drive like bats out of hell. I don't remember seeing a speed limit sign anywhere. The advice I got was find a guy in front of you and go as fast as he does.

    Natalie Hollowell.

The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh... people will come Ray. People will most definitely come.

Jewelry stores. I am reminded of that from time to time when I look at my wife's hands.

Re: Who has been to Aruba?

Not to bring up the obvious bad stuff.....but when we were there we walked to get some beer at a liquor store at night, and it was not a good idea. Liquor store owner tried to get us to walk home through some short-cut which we obviously didn't take since i'm sure he had someone ready to jump us tourists. Also a case of beer was like $45

BEER there is GREAT! Balashi I believe it was called. Brewed on the Island and you can't get it in the US. Had a lot of that there!

I would suggest a snorkeling trip also. We took one and it included free drinks all afternoon along with 3 different snorkeling sites. AWESOME time.

We also rented a car and toured the island on our own. Like a previous poster said, its a very small island so it's easy to get around. Natural bridge is cool.

I would say we had the most fun on the Eagle Beach just hanging out really. Great times.

He does have a point with "who's that?". It was Natalie Hollaway that disappeared and recently declared dead.
