    ISU New President

Iowa State's new top gun | The Des Moines Register | DesMoinesRegister.com

This guy looks interesting to me. It appears certainly has a different approach than President Geoffery.

Think big is the message I got from the article. I have to think we're going to keep going the right direction with this guy at the helm.

Leath has big shoes to fill. It appears we have a winner.

    Re: ISU New President

I came to ISU the same year as President Geoffrey and I think it's safe to say he has left a legacy. He was a fantastic leader for ISU and I hope Leath does the same thing. I used to see President Geoffry often on campus and he'd always stop and chat with you if you said hi. I remember my freshman year he spoke with my dad for just a few moments at the homecoming tailgate and my father came away very impressed.

It would be nice if he could convert his billionaire friend into a Cyclone fan but I don't think Mr. Murdoch cares much about sports. However, he does care a lot about nutritional science and that could bode very well for our College of Human Sciences.

    Re: ISU New President

Before this thread turns into a judgement thread on how great Dr. Geoffery has been, I want to say I think he's been a great President and Ambassador for Iowa State University.

I think comparing him to Dr. Leath will be an apple and oranges comparison.

    Re: ISU New President

I am really excited for this guy because he comes from great stock. Working a ranch and earning a PH.d in plant path for corn is awesome. This guy should be able to make good connections with all ag companies in Iowa.

But good luck getting Pioneer and Monsanto to work together on anything more than a marketing tool that creates a mutually beneficial press release. Both are paranoid as hell and will never share a thing.
