    Reason behind KU's success

Defensive FG%. Their consistency is pretty remarkable. Since Self took over for Roy Williams, they're allowing 38% overall... 2nd best nationally behind UConn. Most people think of their ability to score, but their defense has been their foundation.

We're probably better equipped to beat them than a lot of teams, given how streaky we are offensively. Self said it himself that we have so many options that can stretch the floor... and how difficult it is to defend a team like us if we're making shots.

I'll say if we shoot anything less than 50% from 3-pt range, we have no chance to win this game. KU will score their points. I'd let Robinson go off, keep RW out of foul trouble, and key on everyone else. Then hope our shots are falling.

Why do KU's opponents miss so many shots? | Upon Further Review

The key to winning on the road is defense. You have to expect that you won't shoot as well. If we play defense, and shoot a reasonable percentage from the field, from 3 and from the free throw line (I'd say 40/40/75), we'll be in it.

They don't defend the arc as well as they do inside. They're 5th in the country in 2P%, but 118th in 3P%. We should be able to get good looks from 3.

Kansas State only managed to hold KU to 46% at Allen and lost by 20. KSU is much better defensively than we are... at least right now. They got killed on the boards and only shot 31% overall including 5-20 from 3-pt range.

KU is shooting 48% for the year as a team. It's almost impossible to hold KU down at their place. You have to shoot it really well to have any chance to win.

As Jamal Tinsley said about the Fog: "It's just another gym" We need our guys to have this mentality.

I think part of the reason we lost to MU was because we were trying too hard and putting too much pressure on themselves thus missing easy shots like free throws. Need to relax and play their game. "just another gym"

We've never seen Defense this good. Self is excellent coaching perimeter D.

His teams definitely had that swagger and he was the ringleader. I still clearly remember him toying with Hinrich the whole game his first win at Allen. I was there. He was jawing at him at center court before the tipoff and kept it up the rest of the game. He rode him into KU's bench on one of the first possessions down the floor.
