Too bad the Big 12 can't get this coverage!

All Six of the Remaining UNI Panthers' Football Games to be Televised in Cedar Valley :: UNI is 5-0 on the season and ranked No. 2 in the nation.

This article should be printed off and mailed to the Big 12 commissioner. It sure would be nice if we could get that kind of tv coverage in the Big 12.

As much as I would like Iowa State to be on tv every Saturday I don't think I would trade tv contracts with the Panthers. The Big 12 tv contract can be summed up in one word ... MONEY

Money? I have a hard time believing the big12 contract is anywhere near the other major conferences. Case in point, yesterday I watched 3 big10 games, I was able to watch 1 big12 game. Of course Could have watched 6 big10 games because they were all televised.

I wouldnt care about being on TV as long as I knew that we were getting the same money that Texas and OU are getting from the tv deal.

Re: Too bad the Big 12 can't get this coverage!

ISU gets over $4 million annually from the Big 12 TV football deal whether they appear on TV or not. That alone pays for over 15 percent of the entire athletic budget. Each Big 12 school gets the same amount. If ISU was UNI, they could have all of their games televised and make almost 90 less profit. My guess is UNI is lucky to make $50,000 a game to be on TV. Although everyone wishes ISU were on TV more...the deal monetarily isn't shabby at all.

Re: Too bad the Big 12 can't get this coverage!

Doesn't it seem counterintuitive that you make more money by having fewer games on the air? I've read a hundred threads on the TV deal and what makes it good and what makes it bad.

I know that the Big 12/Fox/whoever decides which games are shown, but why is it their interests to run fewer games? With the amount of college football on TV I can't imagine that limiting it to one Big 12 game at a time helps the ratings significantly when I can just switch from Baylor/OU to a great SEC/ACC/Big East game.

    Just frustrating, that's all.

All six big 12 games are on TV this weekend someway or another for the first time that I remember.
