    Converting Word files

Is there a best program out there for converting Word files to PDFs?

My Google search brought me a ton of them, but I don't know how effective they are.

CutePDF - The free PDF Converter, Convert to PDF for free, Free PDF Utilities.

Works really well- installs into the printer menu, so when you want to put something into a pdf, you just hit print and select that.

    Re: Converting Word files

Depending on your version of word it may be able to do it right in the program.

Or you can use a program like pdfcreator to print any documents to it (and it will output as a pdf file)

Adobe Acrobat X has pdf writing abilities. You can basically use the program as a "printer" and "print" the word document as a pdf file.

    Effective, but not free.

Yeah, can't you just "save as" PDF in the current version? And the previous one I think it was "print to" PDF.

By the way- I just added it to my home computer, and you'll want to hit "next" rather than leave any of the boxes checked. Makes it look like you have to add the tool bar, but you don't.

Yep. I couldnt remember how it was in the 2007 version.. though it looks like it was added to it at some point.

Yeah, I think in 2007 it was "print to" and in the most recent it is "save as." It is a really helpful feature.

Word 2007 and later can save a document in a PDF file format.

I assume you are wanting to do this on Windows versus Mac? Mac it's been a print option for several years.

At least you aren't an engineer. An engineer would have spent 3 weeks trying to write his own program to do it before giving up and asking for help.
