It's pathetic. They're looking for a scapegoat, someone to blame. For right now, it's Jon Miller.

Then again, I've seen us do some crazy things here, attack other fans for no good reason after losses.

Re: Iowa fans attack Jon Miller on his own site

I can see they are also carrying on the tradition of the starting QB not being worth a crap. They also talk about Iowa fans not putting up with mediocrity. The whole football team has been the picture of mediocrity take away a few years in the 80's and a 3 yr stretch during the Kirk Ferentz era.

So typical and so fun to watch.

Re: Iowa fans attack Jon Miller on his own site

In response to this Hawkeye diatribe, Kiley Kiefer (sp??) moved his commit from Hawks to Lincoln Saturday night. He did not want to play for black and gold losers, just red losers. Callahan may be gone in two years if he does not get better. Kirk might have to look for a pro job also. One thing about being a new coach like Gene, you are only in your first year in a long term contract. Here is the Hawk fan comment----

"I seriously think that it could take 4-5 years or more for Iowa to recover from where we are today. We aren't recruiting well, we are losing committed recruits, and our current talent IMO will never get us back to the next level. The coaching staff failed to build on the momentum of 2002 - 2004. It has been a downhill slide ever since and it will be a long road back up. Iowa fans are too fickle to put up with this for another year."

Thus the life of a Hawkeye sports addict who thinks their team is hot stuff. GOing through the seven stages of anger. Post them if you know them....

Re: Iowa fans attack Jon Miller on his own site

Listened to some hawk squawk post game call in radio last night. Many of the callers wanted to know how long it would take for them to return to an "elite" national program. Elite?? They had some good years in the conference with Fry and Ferentz, but nearly every time they went to a big time bowl, they were blasted. I'm biased, but I thought talking about a return to an elite program was really out of touch with reality and laughable.

Those poor idiots are looking for any excuse possible.

The one reason they are terrible escapes them every time. They are in denial of the fact that they have NO TALENT! Their line is NOT physical. Their D is BAD (minus a few players).

Iowa fans will never admit they are not physical or talented. I mean our oline shoved their Dline around. Our dline held their own against them as well.

Re: Iowa fans attack Jon Miller on his own site

I was at a bar last night, TRYING to watch my Cubs get their ***** handed to them (my last hope of the year until basketball starts) and the place was showing the Squawkeye game. There were hammered black and gold wearing losers everywhere and they were just melting down. It was the first time in a long time I have been around those people and actually ENJOYED myself. I just sat there with a BIG GRIN on my face.

IL is going to 30 point Iowa in IC next weekend.

Re: Iowa fans attack Jon Miller on his own site

It's a shame that this is happening - some fans shouldn't be able to use the internet.

That being said - I've seen that on tons of boards. Go to the USC boards - I actually saw several threads calling for Pete's head - the Great Pete. There are fans like these. Unfortunately, Iowa fans have been spoiled by Fry's years (which the majority of were well above mediocre), and then the 3 great Ferentz years.

I think this program can sustain success, but the right pieces of the puzzle have to be there. This year, countless injuries, youth, poor play calling, lack of leadership, and off-field problems have played a key roll. Not saying they'd be any better, but I don't think we'd be seeing this total collapse that we see now.

They may have had a couple of elite teams, but they have never been an elite program. Rutgers is a good example, last year they were rightfully one of the elite teams in the country, but nobody would call them an elite program.

It's great that Iowa thinks a couple of good years makes them an elite program.

Where has Miller been. He used to come by all the time, but I have not seen him in a while. Maybe it is like Marty and Miller, no one is talking college football right now. It is so depressing.

Sadly not much to talk about at D1A. Thank goodness UNI is doing well or the state of Iowa would be in total withdrawal.

I am in withdrawl. Hopefully seeing a game again this weekend will get me excited. Plus Iowa gets to play Ill, which will be fun to see.
