    Chizik quote

“We’re going to look at the film,” Chizik said, “see who produced and who didn’t. (We’ll) go from there and make some decisions on Monday, and get ready for Texas.”

    later in the article

Quarterback Bret Meyer completed five of 12 attempts in the opening 30 minutes.

Maybe a change is on its way or I am just reading into things. It might be the spark this team needs to get going.

If 5 guys can't block 3 guys there isn't going to be many people open, and the offense won't be very successful.

Bret will start against Texas. Arnaud is still injured.

Why not let Bates start if Arnaud is hurt?

    Re: Chizik quote

I think Bret gives us the best chance to win the Texas game. Winning games will still matter in recruiting. After the brutal Big 12 start, the schedule really levels out, and maybe we'll see Arnaud get some reps then.

    Re: Chizik quote

I agree that Bret gives us the best chance to win, however (not trying to be pessimistic just being a realist) we will still lose a majority if not all the rest of games. Arnaud needs to be getting some play time and I think he will a bit later in the season.

Now that MBB is back, do we still have to pretend that WBB matters?

    Re: Chizik quote

if Bret gets benched later to try and develope Arnuad/Bates then so be it. However, against teams like Texas/OU Myers gives us the best chance to win. Also the freshmen IMO would be thrown to the wolves. texas isnt all that hot this season but still.

I'd like to see bret play out "most" of the season. he gives us the best chance to win any game. and with him on the verge of setting some team records, i think he deserves at least that as long as he is the best option for our team.

    Re: Chizik quote

I think anyone is on the list of being benched. I didn't see that as being directed at one person.

The quoted part about Meyer didn't come from Chizik, it was done by the DMR. Most likely - them trying to tie the two together.

It could very well happen, Meyer sitting. But at this point, almost no one on either side of the ball should feel safe.

The schedule really "levels" out? hello? I think we have to play KU, who beat K-State who beat Texas (in Austin), and CO beat OU, as well as Mizzou mauling NU last night, who pretty much handled the Clones. I really don't see a winnable game the rest of the year. Uggh.

I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.

    Re: Chizik quote

This team is not going to win now. So we need to build for the future. Arnaud or Bates will get gametime experience and have a head start going into the season. Let Meyer play until Arnaud is healthy, then let him in. Meyer seems to be having trouble adjusting to the new system anyways.

The problem is most of the players that are the future of ISU football are either already starting or are redshirting this year and cant play.

Someone knows, but it's not me. But I'm confident with my prediction. Only way it won't is if we are up in the game, or have a chance to win. The way we've been playing, neither looks very likely.
