    Providence win is getting bigger

they beat Louisville last night and are starting to look like a team that could do some damage. Glad we beat them.

Wow! Providence didn't seem that good.

They have a really bright future too-- their coach is doing a great job recruiting.

Ed Cooley, a Al Skinner disciple ... was great at Fairfield the past 5 seasons and he's a great fit for the Providence program (sorry Keno). But, yes definitely the win against them in Padre will continue to look better, this team will do some damage in the Big East this year.

Hopefully they do some damage in the Big East, but they're only 1-4 right now. Tough schedule though.

Not trying to rain on anyone's parade here but...
I don't see Providence being much of a factor in the Big East this year. While I like to see teams that we beat in the non-con go on to win in their respective conferences, this is more similar to Iowa beating Wisky than anything else. We need to just worry about the teams on ISU's schedule so we can make our case for the dance. (that's right I said dance, aka the big dance)

Also are the wheels falling off in L'ville? Another classic Pitino meltdown.

Louisville seems to be falling apart, but who have they really beaten this year? Vandy hasn't been the team people thought they would be. Memphis is talented, but isn't the team they have been in recent years. Providence's losses are to St Johns, Georgetown, Syracuse, Seton Hall, ISU, and UNI. St Johns might be the worst team in there, and they have quite a bit of talent. They were projected to be at or near the bottom of the Big East, so any wins they get are gravy for us. It would be nice if they could finish in the middle of the BE and make our win against them look pretty decent.

Big win for them but they will probably finish in the bottom 3 of the Big East this year.

Next year they have a top 5 class coming in....somehow. They will be really good in 2 years

Great win, but still 1-4 in the Big East.

Plus, we played them without Batts, who had 27 and 10 last night.

that doesn't factor into anything when you are looking at a resume for the dance though.

They led Syracuse for quite a bit of the game earlier in conference play, they seem to be playing much better.

Re: Providence win is getting bigger

Cooley is going to get that program rolling. He is recruiting a lot of the same NE players that we are. They seem to hold their own (from what I see) recruiting against the likes of Syracuse, UConn, St. Johns, etc - including the likes of Noel and Seldon. I've had my eye on that program since he was hired. Will continue to follow what goes on there.
