Looks very winnable. Outside of Carter at 133(who handled Ramos at the Midlands) we will be competitive. My hope for this meet is that Moreno can put somehtign together and get his second win at 157. 149 doesn't look out of reach here either. Shafer will likely have a tough time at 197 though.

Don't remember the score but believe Shafer beat the Vetterlein kid at the Midlands.

If Schafer won, I would assume wbf. Don't know many other wins that he hasn't stuck his guy.

    Re: Virginia Tech

There should be some opportunities for individual wins. It will be nice to get to see Finch wrestle somebody who isn't ranked in the top 10 and as someone else mentioned, I'm hopeful that Moreno can get a confidence building win here. Sorenson will have a good test in Yates, who actually looked the best of anybody against Fittery in the Midlands finals. Hopefully Goettl can keep things rolling against a higher ranked kid.

The kid from Mizzou that beat England in OT the other day is now ranked #10 by Intermat so I'm hopeful he can bounce back and get this one Friday. As always, if the individuals do what they are capable of, the team will take care of itself.

    Re: Virginia Tech

Heard Spangler is basically retired due to concussions, slim chance for next year but not looking great. He was looking very good. Hope things clear up and he has a shot, but long term health most important.

    Re: Virginia Tech

Many toss ups here, sorensons match should be a good one. Have faith Andrew can pull it out. Finch, bo, moreno, Gibson, England have good chances. Schafer and goettl have ones that can go their way, only one that I almost concede is 33. Hopefully no bonus points with that one to get it close.

I put together a post on this today with records and common opponents. Goettl and Shafer have both wrestled the VT guys. I'll post it tonight once I get home.

    Re: Virginia Tech

I heard rumors of Spangler also, but you just don't know. It will be a while, if he does come back. Heck we don't have Mayfield back yet and that occurred 1st dual of the year. I think he had some nose surgery also.

I talked to somebody pretty close to the program that I think would know and he hadn't heard that. Because I heard the same thing, that Spangler was done for the year.

Any word on Mayfield? He's been out for two months now.

With all of the big concussions Spangler has had this wouldn't surprise me. He was just making such great strides and moving up the rankings. It is just too bad if true. But his health is the most important thing. I wish him the best.

Mayfield is still expected to be back wrestling at 149. No time table
