    The Tim Tebow

So the kid can throw! And he showed it against the Steelers. But it gets weird... Finally starts throwing the ball and throws for 316 yards. 316, where do you ever find that? Oh just on fans signs around the stadium, JOHN 3:16. And to top it off, he wins the game on the first play of overtime as the defenders parted like the Red Sea for his wide receiver.

Tebow's post game quote... "When I saw him scoring, first of all, I just thought, 'Thank you, Lord,' " Tebow said.

Not trying to hate on him at all, but wow can some messages be pulled out of this...

    Re: The Tim Tebow

You forgot to mention Trent Dilfer on ESPN NFL recap after the game commenting on his playing ability, coming up with innovative excuses for the Steelers' loss.

Irony, after Dilfer single-handedly carried his team to their Superbowl win...

I'm not a tebow lover or hater, but I do strongly dislike how the media portrays him.

    Re: The Tim Tebow

I like tim tebow and all, but I just want to meet him and ask him if he ever read matthew 6:5-6.

Kurt Warner poured it on the right way. Tebow goes over the top.

I actually think Tebow is less in your face than Warner. The difference is media treatment.

    Re: The Tim Tebow

Warner was more over the top.

I loved how after the game winning play yesterday they didn't show Tebow celebrate. They didn't show when he jumped into the crowd and went crazy. Nope. The only thing they showed was him kneeling and praying after he got done celebrating

Congrats on your achievement! You didn't even have to spend a night at Al's to get there.

You're looking at the passage pretty literally, I think. What matters is the intent(Jesus, after all, prayed in public). Is Tebow praying in public to show people how holy he is (i.e., acting as a hypocrite) or is it for other reasons? I have no idea, but given a range of possible interpetations for someone's behavior, it's probably best to choose the most charitable one.

    Re: The Tim Tebow

    The reason I would apply the above passage to Tebow is this;

after every big play he gets down on one knee and all of that. Really, as far as I see it, that is just for show. I used to pray during games and such too but I would just do it in my head instead of making a public spectacle out of it. Many people have a big to-do about how he thanks Jesus in every post game interview multiple times and I don't really have a problem with that, but the kneeling seems like it is for attention.

I thought out a well reasoned response to this, but figured it would get this thread moved to the cave, so I'll let my emoticon do the talking for me.
