We beat two quality opponents and no one is happy?

Reading the board after the win against Tex and now against AnM and I can't escape the sense that everyone is underwhelmed with the wins.

Texas was picked 5th and AnM tied in preseason to win the league. We just made both of these teams look like a couple JV squads and the reaction I'm seeing is pretty "meh". Am I missing something. Everyone is acting like these teams weren't actually that good since we pounded em.

I even saw one sqawkeye come in and compare AnM -> Minny.

I'm not screaming "FINAL FOUR" obviously but we just POUNDED two very solid Big 12 teams that have been solid for quite a while.

    /end rant

I'm very pleased, and I get the sense that majority of fans are too. Some people just complain incessantly (and loudly), so it seems like there are more of them than there really are.

This team has the capability of beating or losing to anyone based on their performance so far this year, but they're getting better as the season wears on, which is to be expected with such a big group of newcomers.

I'm very very very happy. I couldn't stop smiling for about two hours after the game today.

A&M is not a quality team right now.

Very glad we won but this week's games will be better to judge our team on.

Re: We beat two quality opponents and no one is happy?

I think that what happens sometimes on this board and with media in general is that the people who scream and shout the loudest, even if they are small in number, get the most attention; like that CycloneCory guy who started that thread after the Texas game that seemed to bag on ISU more than anything else.

I can't speak for others today since I haven't spent much time on here after the win today, but after squeaking by MVSU by 2 at home last week and seeing us blow out the Aggies on their own home floor by 24 points I personally am very, very happy. That's the best game I've seen ISU play in a couple of years, best since we beat #5 KSU on the road towards the end of McD's last season in 2010.

Re: We beat two quality opponents and no one is happy?

Texas and A&M might have been quality opponents when the season started, but somebody forgot to crimp the bag of chips shut before we got around to them and they've gone completely stale. Neither were quality wins, but both wins were necessary if ISU wants to improve in CFH's second year.

That being said, who's not happy?

Maria Sharapova: Don't you beat up other guys for a living? I don't know how to answer this.

Re: We beat two quality opponents and no one is happy?

I am shocked at how many were disappointed in the Texas win. Sure we gave up a 10 point lead, but we answered back and built it to 15.

As far as today goes, I don't care how much Texas A&M sucks, winning by 24 on the road in the Big 12 is rare.

I'm thrilled to be 2-0 and to put some pretty long streaks to rest in these first 2 games.

I don't know what this means for the rest of the season, but I've felt over the last several years if we could actually win a few games, we might gain some confidence.

Missouri is a match up nightmare for us, but we should come in focused and ready to go. The crowd should be good and loud and maybe we can make a statement.

perhaps still a hangover effect from the bad bowl game and WBB debacle with Schroll. Things are looking up with MBB and the board will get better.

Bolded part is spot on. And it's definitely not a sense that fans aren't happy we are winning...just underwhelmed with wins.

What I saw early on was that this team has the ability to beat any team in the conf and make the tourney if they want. It's just a matter of them putting it together.

Why does everyone think Mizzou is a match up nightmare? We are talented enough to beat anyone.

Another thing is that we see all of the warts. Iowa State is 12-3, that's not a bad record. The announcers today were talking about how we were a good team. I think if you take a step back things weren't as dire as we thought. Many teams struggle to start the season and it takes teams a while to find their way. We aren't the only team that does that.

I'm not saying that we are a good team by any means. But I don't think we were as bad as many on here thought after beating Iowa or losing to UNI.

Too early to call them quality wins. Neither team will make the dance.

Re: We beat two quality opponents and no one is happy?

I am pleased we beat a big 12 team on the road in texas we haven't done that in 8 years idc if there good or bad its something we haven't done since i was 10 years old its a great feeling and i was in the stands for the texas game they were not a bad team at all not your normal texas squad but everyone at hilton knew how good it felt to beat texas. If you think they are bad teams you still have to win the bad ones and we finally did it playing as a team were 2-0 in the big 12 enjoy it a little bit and worry about one game at a time
