Interesting, he must have been responsible for Cutler and Forte's injuries.

He is responsible for not properly equipping this team with capable backups in case of injury.

Right now Hub Arkush is reporting that the short list is the Packers Director of Football Operations, Reggie McKenzie and Bill Polian.

I figured the injuries would be enough of a scapegoat for Lovie, I guess they needed at least one head to role. Even with the two key injuries, there was zero excuse for the nosedive this team took.

No I dont think that was the case. He is however responsible for not having anyone with a pulse on the roster as a backup.

JA has one of the worst draft records in the NFL when it comes to drafting early round talent. Name the last skill position player taken in the first round to make a probowl.

The Cutler and Peppers moves were good however the need to go out and acquire FA talent like that means that you are not developing any of you own. Plus giving away draft picks is tough because it hamstrings you in the future.

JA was the king of mediocre. Its obvious that he wasnt going to get it done and that the Bears were losing the chance to compete in the North with GB and Det.

More than anything, (Iowa State head coach Paul Rhoads) has restored the Iowa State “it” factor, the steadfast belief that it is great to be a Cyclone...the man’s enthusiasm is genuine to the core...”

Brad Biggs tweet: Quote from #Bears site: "No other changes will be made. That includes Lovie Smith, who will remain Bears head coach." Mike Martz? Anyone?

Lovie gets the flyer for the injuries, and maybe even credit for playing the cards he was dealt by Angelo. We have been in the Playoffs once in the last five years, and Angelo has been the GM for 10. I don't know one person, not related to Jerry, that is a Bears fan that would want Angelo to stay.

At this point it gets really interesting for Matt Forte and his agent. Also, it makes you wonder if Jerry was responsible for being $14 million under the cap not the McCaskeys. I had assumed they were instructing him not to spend, but with his removal maybe he was just deluded enough to think this team was Championship caliber. That's just cause right there.

Thank you! So glad to see Angelo go... The lack of capable backups is one thing, but his inability to construct a defensive offensive line and receiving corps has been a problem for years.

    This x100.

Refusing to at least look at oustide QBs after Cutler went down cost the Bears the playoffs IMO.

I certainly don't think Lovie should go either...he had this team playing extremely well before Cutler and Forte went down.

I would love to know how Lovie feels about it, but never will. His interviews are the least informative and least interesting in the entire league. I couldn't guess if he is right now jumping for joy or crying in despair. In his final press conference he said that they had made the playoffs one of the last two years, and kept a straight face. Not sure how he does it.

They did put in a waiver claim for Orton, and they signed McCown, so it's not like they didn't look elsewhere. It's not like there is a surplus of Pro Bowl caliber QB's out there.

He did get Devin Hester, Matt Forte and Charles Tilman in the 2nd round...but other than that I agree! Terrible!
