    Rutgers played clean and classy

I'm watching the South Carolina/Nebraska game and recognized what was present in the Pinstripe Bowl that is missing in the Capital One Bowl: Class.

Even though there were tons of blitzes and big plays, I don't remember seeing anything in our game that I would call a cheap shot or showboating. The players came out and played with emotion, but stayed classy unlike the South Carolina/Nebraska game.

Hmm, perhaps it proves the point that teams reflect their coaches.

Yep, it was one of the cleaner games I've seen this year.

I won't deny that I like the Rutgers as a school, team, and fans, particularly the ones that came on this site and the ones that I met at the game. But I especially like the way their team played clean and classy which I hadn't even really noticed until I saw all the junk in the South Carolina/Nebraska game. In fact, I hadn't really noticed how we played clean and classy until now.

P.S. Jukebox, I sent you a PM which seems to be a more appropriate channel for personal conversations.

Well Schiano gets REALLY mad at his players for showboating and taking cheap shots (nvm the kind off penalties that result from stuff like that). Not saying they don't happen during the season with player emotions riding high during the game BUT in the rare cases that those type of things occur, Schiano usually chews them out pretty good for it immediately on the sidelines and takes away playing time... I'd say it's an effective deterrent...

I thought it was a clean game and the fans in the stands near me were very polite. I was impressed. None of the Jersey "attitude" I expected.

I wish I would have been able to avoid the Jersey attitude from the fans like the rest of you.

USUALLY the "Jersey attitude" is expressed by some off our drunk students...
Since the student turn out wasn't great you din't see it... I think it is one off the reasons why they moved the visitor section away from the student section at our stadium...

Our alums are usually classy (there are some DBs though like all fan bases).

IMO, Nebraska is one of the dirtiest teams around. They play like their foul-mouthed coach. Classless.

Hey, Blitz8RU, what did your coach mean after the game when he was holding up the trophy and yelling something that sounded like "Go back to Hell?"

Rutgers seems like a pretty classy program to me, I really felt bad for Greene going down late in the game. Hate to see a guy that plays that hard end his season like that.

Yea, I hope he is doing well. Interestingly, as a captain, he did a great job of pumping up his team before he was wheeled off the field, even while he was heart-broken to be leaving the field.

P.S. It seemed like the injury may have happened because Greene pulled up for an awkward light hit rather than clobber Jantz after a pass.

He said "[This is] goin back to the Hale". He is referring to Hale center, Rutgers' state of the art athletics facilities. It is also where the team practiced for the bowl game. He is just saying the trophy is going back to Hale center. Yeah it sound like hell because he lost his voice shouting the whole game lol.

He also said "This is for you Big E, this is for you buddy". Big E refers to Eric Legrand, it's his nickname (also his twitter handle). So he dedicated the bowl game win to Eric Legrand.

Thanks. I thought he must have been saying something else.

And at the risk of being ridiculed by some CFers, it really was touching to see how you guys rallied around Eric Legrand. I'm sure it meant much to the players, but the crowd was as loud cheering for him as they were for the win itself.

So, when can we get Rutgers in the Big 12?
