    football recruiting-dead week

dead week for college football recruiting was dec 19 thru jan. 3.
there is another dead period for football recruiting jan. 9- jan. 11.

is this due to bowl games being played on the weekend of jan 9- jan 11. it seems very strange that they would have a second dead period after the christmas vacation dead period. why can't the NCAA let our coaches recruit the whole of january.
when is the national signing weekend in february 2012???
thanks and happy new year as it 11:07 central standard time..2011

    Re: football recruiting-dead week

What the "Dead Period" means: Coaches can not meet a prospect in person or evaluate talent in person, the staff is limited to ONE contact via telephone per week, the recruit CAN contact the coaches as often as they want

The 2 day break 9-12 is a dead period. no real reason, its just a break that extra break moves around from year to year

There will be a TON of recruiting down from the 4th to the 8th. its a very intense week in recruiting circles. Same from the 13th to the next dead period which is Jan 30th

The main reason it was started was so coaches/kids can better enjoy the holiday

NSD is Feb 1 Al Gore's favorite invention
