    Jeff Woody = ISU's Belldozer

After watching Oklahoma's Blake Bell destroy defenses in short yardage situations, maybe we should tinker around with putting Woody in some type of shotgun power formation. Put a TE or OG back there as a lead blocker and let him run wild.

Blake Bell on the season (7 games including bowl)... 44 rushing attempts, 3.89 yds/attempt, 13 TDs.

I don't think it matters much who carries the ball if the blocking scheme is great like OU's is for this package. When it works Bell rarely gets touched. Wally and Clones are the only team to really shut that down all year.

We'd need to clone him so he could lead block for himself.

OU's blocking in that formation is far superior to how our OL blocked.

I like to imagine Woody as the Bill "The Billdozer" Dauterive.

Re: Jeff Woody = ISU's Belldozer

Actually, even with a QB in the game if Woody had another FB leading into the line, I think he could be productive. I was very unhappy that ISU didn't just run right at Rutgers with woodey yesterday. most of the time they tried to run White latteral to the LOS, hoping to find a hole and he got caught in the backfield be all the guys blitzing in off the edge. Rutgers copied what kansas did to stop ISU.

That was one thing I wish we had tried. Line up like the end of the KU game, or OT vs. Oklahoma State. This is what we are going to do, and you go ahead and try to stop it. Wouldn't have had to stay with that the entire game, but I think it could have changed the mindset and momentum.

And their great blocking from the other guys in the backfield. Their FB is a stud.

Re: Jeff Woody = ISU's Belldozer

oklahoma's two back set behind their tackle worked effectively against the squawks.
we need to develop a similar system for the cyclones...bell walked right into the endzone with their bowl game against the beakfaces...

Or we could just leave it alone, considering Woody averaged 4.2 ypc this season.
