Post-Game Media Conference vs. Mississippi Valley State

Those who keep posting that CFH is a CEO coach and/or he doesn't show enough fire should take in today's interview @ Post-Game Media Conference vs. Mississippi Valley State - Cyclones.com

Just because he doesn't go Bobby Knight or Bill Fennelly on the sidelines during the game doesn't mean he is isn't trying to light a fire under the guys and have them ready for B12 play.

I've seen steady improvement from game #1; especially after switching the starting line-up and point guard. Let's hope the improvement continues over the next 18 games.

To say the least, Fred isn't content with the 2-point victory.

Re: Post-Game Media Conference vs. Mississippi Valley State

Yeah I am sick and tired of these players being ******* lazy. Maybe the transfer route is not the way to go anymore. If the players do not care and it is obvious then why in the hell should they have a great crowd to play in front of. I have never so ****** at a Cyclone basketball team like i am with this team. Some guys hustle, but majority just want to play street ball.

Re: Post-Game Media Conference vs. Mississippi Valley State

Good. Hopefully guys like Niang, Okoro, SDW and Naz Long have the heart and desire it takes to win in the B12. We need guys that can LEARN how to play with good basketball IQ. I am hopeful that those guys will become significant contributors next year.

Hopefully Lucious and Clyburn want to do some big things next year and will lead the team. We need guys that will do the little things that will translate into defensive stops, points, rebounds and TO's.

White is not far off, from being an unstoppable force, so I'm holding out a lot of hope that next year Fred rights the ship.

I thought he was going to go Hulk for a second when he slammed the table.

Only to be disappointed when he went back to his calm demeanor.

So you want him to throw a fit in front of the media. That will sure show his players he means business.

Edit: On second read, you were probably kidding.

This is why coaches age faster than average, happy people.

Table smash aside, CFH looks like he's searching for a way to get through to these guys. That's a tough place to be, with the conference slate beginning next week.

Re: Post-Game Media Conference vs. Mississippi Valley State

i stopped watching at halftime thinking the game was in hand. they looked sluggish at the start and then they picked it up and finished the half well. this was the first game ive watched this season and i thought everything id heard about their play early one was just over reaction. hopefully they stop thinking wins will be easy and actually play the whole game once b12 play starts

Re: Post-Game Media Conference vs. Mississippi Valley State

Honestly, I needed to see that. Sometimes those moments are contrived, but that was raw right there. Not that raw emotion is what will turn this thing around, but I like seeing that visible reinforcement that Fred has truly set the bar as high as we expect him to. He may be cool on the sidelines (although I've noticed a few more timeout blowups this year), but something tells me that he shows a fire in practice that we don't typically see publicly.

The beginning of this season has been frustrating as hell. But I haven't given up hope in Hoiberg for one reason: he's an intelligent man with very high expectations. On top of that, he showed that he wasn't too proud to bring on a Lutz in year one. I think he made a miscalculation heading into year two, but I think he's smart enough to make the necessary adjustments going forward.

yeah so we don't have any transfers next year. Fred never said he would be only using transfers to build his teams. He was pretty explicit that the idea is to get as much talent as soon as possible - and taking transfers did that. He does not intend to do it going forward.

Re: Post-Game Media Conference vs. Mississippi Valley State

Honestly that was hard to watch......Fred is beside himself and you can tell in his body language, hand on cheek the whole interview. One would think w/older mature players that they would get it when it comes to a killer instinct. What is the mark you can make in 1 year?

Was at the game today . Enjoyed watching the 2nd unit more than the starters. I hope Fred plays those that deserve it based on the little things. I saw nothing in Chris Allen that showed ability to start. Not a PG, which we know, but he will not look anywhere but the perimeter or himself for a shot. No passes to the block. Bubu is head n shoulders above him in game management which is what we need in a PG.

Someone must have had a talk w/Ejim. He played like a man possessed today. Did not hesitate on his shot, but 1, double clutched n still hit the 3. Got every rebound in his area against bigger guys.

If some of the guys don't respond n want to waste a year sit down. I am confident we have enough guys that will respect Fred n play w/ some heart. I would accept some loses watching guys who give it their all. Talent w/ no ability to respect your coach has shortened many a players career. May need to happen to some of these guys to. Or at least a wake-up call. Should have happened already.

Keep your head up Fred, I know my families behind you 100%. Love being in Hilton. Go get TX....
