    Hard drive data recovery

So, it appears that my laptop's hard drive has crashed/failed/whatever. Is there anyone in the Ankeny/Des Moines area that can recover my 'stuff' at a decent price? I have all of my deployment pictures on there and it's kinda important that I get them off of it.

Dymin Systems in Urbandale is very good. Been there several times over the years.

They usually turn it around in 24 hours... depending upon what is wrong...

Pretty sure this is their phone number - 515-276-7447

Good Luck, hope you get your pics back!

Thanks for the info! How much do they typically charge?

It has been a little while since I've been there - thankfully, but I think they are pretty reasonable. A buddy took his laptop there not long ago and they got it fixed very fast and he was pleased with the pricing and he's very thrifty.

Probably just need to call them and see what the minimum diagnostic charge is.

    Re: Hard drive data recovery

    Bump.

Stewo, did you end up taking yours to this Dynim business? What was the cost? (if you're comfortable sharing)

Anyone used ADR Data Recovery in West Glen Town Center? Apparently they don't have a physical location there, but they do have a person who will send the hard drive to a place in Montana that examines and tries to recover the data.

My Lacie 500GB external hard drive bit the dust the other day. Apparently the USB ports on my laptop are messed up, because any USB plugged into it will be recognized by the computer, then after anywhere from 5 to 30 seconds will no longer be recognized and I'll get an alert saying something along the lines of "the device was improperly removed/not ejected properly and damage could occur to the device". This happens when I try to upload pictures, flash drives, anything. Anyway, the sequence occurred to the hard drive first and ever since the hard drive isn't even recognized at all by the computer. The drive just makes a beeping noise when plugged in.

I haven't taken it in yet. I'm spending most of my days in Ft. Riley. I do need to get it there ASAP though.
