This just annoys me. Why does Jesse Palmer and other announcers insist on saying Trickeration. Come on people it isn't even a word.
According to Urban Dictionary, this is why:
A fictitious word commonly used by football announcers to make themselves feel intelligent. When the word they actually mean to say is: Trickery. But we all know that most announcers never learned anything in school and just focused on football all day long.
Football Announcer: That play was just filled with trickeration!
It's sort of like "disorientated" or "utilized". You are looking for disoriented and used. It doesn't make you smarter to add extraneous syllables to words.
Thank you... Utilize actually has a meaning, which is essentially "to give a value to something that it previously did not possess." Quite different from use, as you know. And some of the most pernicious violators in misusing (misutilizing?) utilize are academics who should know better.
