    Treadmill help

I am thinking about getting the old lady a treadmill for her bday. Anyone have any suggestions? We would need for running and would like to stay around $1500 if possible. Any place local that you would recommend to purchase from?

    Thanks

    Re: Treadmill help

I just bought a Pro-Form series treadmill (3 weeks ago) and it works great. With that being said assembling it was a nightmare. I couldn't make it past step 2 because holes didn't line up and had to drill them out (this was a common theme throughout the assembly).

    Re: Treadmill help

Have you thought of a second hand treadmill in case she does not use it much?

    Re: Treadmill help

If she's just starting to get into exercising, I'd just buy her a good pair of running shoes and see if she's really serious or not. If she's serious, go walking or running with her outside. The weather sure has been nice enough for it. It will be much cheaper and you won't have the constant reminder of an unused treadmill sitting in a corner collecting dust when she decides to stop using it. (Speaking from experience).

If she doesn't like it, you could always put an airplane on it. It will never take off.

    Re: Treadmill help

My wife just had to have one 8 years ago. I think we have moved house more than she has used the damn thing. It does make a great coat rack in the storage room.

This may be a delicate operation here.

Join a gym, it's cheaper and if she decides to quit, you are not stuck trying to unload a treadmill.

I'd get her a vacuum instead.
