    Attendance - Independence Bowl

Did anyone catch the attendance at the Independence Bowl? The TV camera was directed at what appeared the NC side - pathetic - a scarcity of fans. I never saw a shot of the Missouri fans ( if there were any there). I tuned off at halftime to catch a nap before Mon. night football came on.

    Re: Attendance - Independence Bowl

I read the Carolina AD said he expected about 1,000 fans at the game.

    "Official" attendance was 41,000.

Didn't hear anything regarding MU's ticket numbers, but they didn't sound too great.

The weather was crappy, but that's a pretty pathetic crowd in the stands.

    Re: Attendance - Independence Bowl

When we were down there in '05, we tailgated with a bunch of locals on the State Fairgrounds near the Stadium. Locals who don't have an affiliation with either team like to go to the game just to see College Football. I wouldn't be shocked if 3/4 of that crowd was unaffiliated.....or more.

It's times like these that schools should be on the hook for their share of the ticket allotment - if that was the case maybe they turn down the invite. UNC with the coaching staff fired and no support from the fan base should not have accepted the invite but since the cost of the unsold tickets falls on the conference then they go.

I doubt there was 10k actually in the seats.

Evidently the Missouri mascot tried to lift the trophy from the game and broke the crystal when he dropped it.

I can hear in my head what they were talking about right before he dropped it...

Haha! That pic is terrible! Looks empty on both sides. I'm surprised that Mizzou didn't make the trip, it wouldn't be a long or expensive trip for them... of course it is Shreveport

I guess this just underscores the fact (documented numerous times previously on this site) that Missou fans just don't travel well. Maybe they're just saving up for travel to SEC away games :)

We'll have more people at the pep rally/spirit walk. Mizzou is a joke. Heard one of their fans saying they'll be ranked top 20 next year in preseason.
