Tony Yelk had a cannon for a leg. 47 yard attempt that goes OVER the upright.

This. He may have dented a few goal posts on PATs.

Those uprights were short, though. Had they been typical height for college stadiums, the kick may have actually hit the upright -- then we'd know for sure if it was good.

What is your fascination with bringing up one of the top gut-wrenching times in Iowa State Football history?

Looked like it was going to hit the upright and bounce back to the field. No good.

After the oSu game I'm going to have to error on the side of it being no good. Though that should have been an ISU victory regardless.

    Re: "The Infamous Kick"

Shouldn't even have been in that position. They had like 200 yard of total offense. The field was no good though, exact same thing as OSU FG.

Assuming the rules were the same then as they are now I would have to say it is no good. I don't know what the rules were then though.

    Re: "The Infamous Kick"

The atmosphere at that game was maybe the best of any bowl game Ive been to.

It was one strong reason to head to NYC this year.

    Re: "The Infamous Kick"

My friends and I ended up going down behind that endzone towards the end of the game. We didn't have a great angle, but probably one of the better ones besides being right under the goal, and we had no idea weather or not it was good. It was one of those calls that sucks, but in reality probably was a good call.

No way should it have come down to that though. Classic conservative play calling inside the 20 caused us to rely on our kicking game too often. And Yelk was just not an accurate kicker.
