An interview that I did with NJ.com...

    Hey Guys -

Just thought I'd post this link. Rutgers blogger Jerry Sanchez contacted me last week about the Pinstripe Bowl. Mostly for Rutgers fans to learn more about ISU, but I thought I'd post it for you all as well.

    You ain't kiddin'.

Just as an aside, that design has been the same for the website since the mid-90's. Why? Because of the ownership.

For those interested, NJ.com is owned through Advance Publications by the Newhouse family. They also have controlling interests in several other newspapers and communications outlets in the US which are listed on the homepage. Frankly, they do not change anything, regardless of how old the approach might be. While that works in some ways, it is also proving to be detrimental to them in other ways.

The Newhouse family patriarch was S.I. Newhouse. Those in journalism may find the name familiar from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse.

    Nice work CW.

I think Rutgers will have a decent defense and it won't be until the second half until ISU is able to string 3 good drives together.

ISU's D will win out though, perhaps even a score? Johnson will shut down Sanu and ISU will end up with 4 sacks.

    ISU 27 Rutgers 14.

Chris, can you get the Rutgers sight to return the favor? Offer them a similar set of questions to answer?

That actually sounds decent, except for the 4 sacks. Do we even have that many on the year?

He did do a Q & A with their radio personality not too long ago.

Q&A: One-on-one w/ the Voice of the Scarlet Knights

I do like hearing from the Rutgers side of things though. It would be nice to get more content like this in the days this week leading up to the game. Can't wait for Friday!

We might have had 4 sacks in the KSU game.

Re: An interview that I did with NJ.com...

I think a key difference between the two teams lies in the size of their lines. I believe RU does not have a d-lineman over 275; the O-line, which they have had problems with for a couple of years, is also smaller than ours and than those lines we face in the Big 12. As far as line speed is concerned, I haven't any idea.

Re: An interview that I did with NJ.com...

ISU getting a win in this game would be huge - playing a bowl game as a true visitor is tough. ISU travels and staying away from home for a week before the game while RU stays in routine the whole time and has already played a game at Yankee Stadium.

Re: An interview that I did with NJ.com...

I'm still really nervous about this game...mainly because of how huge a victory would be. But I can't help but think ISU should almost be HEAVILY favored in this game. There were very few teams in Big 12 that were playing as well as us in the last 4-5 games. I really wouldn't be surprised by a multiple touchdown win..in a way, deep down, I kind of expect it.

Of course if our Offense goes to turnover city like it certainly can, all bets are off. But if we hold on to the ball...lookout, it gets ugly and we all get drunk.
