    Ames High Basketball with Barnes

Palo, Mcdermott, Berguson, and I think they had one other small college player has to be the best basketball team in state history and it's probably not even close. Until last night I was aware of Palo, Mcdermott, and Barnes. Then I saw this Berguson kid who would have made a nice walk on at ISU and I am pretty sure they had another kid name Pritchard or something like that. Freakin incredible that they all went to Ames at the same time.

Nobody but HB knows for sure. You pretty much know nothing....like Knownothing would like to say.

Doug and Harrison were sophomores at the time... so not quite as crazy as it sounds. But still yeah 4 d1 players on an Iowa high school team.

Yes, Pritchard went to either Harvard or Yale, I forget which. His little sister starts at point for Ames High's women's team.

2 potential first team all-americans on the same high school team...crazy.

Re: Ames High Basketball with Barnes

Pritchard signed with Yale but due to grades had to go JUCO. Weber plays for Kirkwood, one of the top teams in whatever college level they are. Another player went to Indian Hills.

They probably would've won state three years in a row if it wasn't for a missed push-off by Chance Creekmer of Marshalltown on Palo to go to state.

^Before I get attacked for this, I am basing off not only what I saw on tv, but what they analysts were saying both on the radio and on tv. Also, it was by far the best high school basketball game I have ever seen. Two great teams.

Don't forget Kohler who is playing baseball at Evansville. He could have played D1 BB too.

Kohler had a scholly offer from Stanford and Iowa State for football, but had passion for baseball. Probably could've gone wherever he wanted academically, as well. Great young kid.

Pritchard went one year at a prep and then right back to Yale. He is a sophomore this year and next year his team is coming to Hilton.

Exactly what I was thinking. In how many years of reading message boards, I don't think I've ever seen the words Yale and Juco in the same sentence.

He went Prep for one year, not JUCO.
