    Prometheus

Anyone else excited for this movie? Ridley Scott is back at science fiction. Not sure how it will work as an Alien prequel so to speak, but from what I have seen from clips, it could be very good. Full trailer comes out tomorrow but there are some snippets out now.

    Re: Prometheus

Is he still saying this is an Alien prequel? He seems to keep going back and forth on whether it ties in or it's going to be it's own thing. I'm surprised if it's supposed to tie-in that the studio didn't insist on calling it "Alien: Prometheus" or something like that.

    Re: Prometheus

I really dont know. I think its its own story. I have a feeling by the time hes done with his plan he will have fully explained the ship that Ripleys crew found through these movies. So its probably not a prequel in the traditional way.

    Re: Prometheus

I'd consider that a pretty traditional prequel, if that's the story. I just thought I had read something that he was changing it so it didn't have anything to do with Alien. Either way, seems like it should be pretty solid.

    Re: Prometheus

This is the one about the Space Jockeys right?

While on live TV, Ford used a vulgar term to describe a private part of the female anatomy, adding that he was “happily married” and “got more than enough to eat at home.”

I guess so. Just hope its not over the top obvious. Leave a little to the imagination.

Yea. I'm sure the movie will be good, but I kind of think Alien works better the less you know about the Alien and why it's there. The only sequel I ever watched was Aliens, do the other two really ever get into explanations of how that all came to be?

No, the other two focus on "The Company". The 4th one focused on immoralilty of using the species for science/and weaponry. Creating an alien human hybrid. 3 was actually pretty decent because it was about this prison planet that didnt have weapons to fight back against the alien. You should watch it at least once. The 4th you could just skip entirely.

    Re: Prometheus

I love how they teased us all week. Then the trailer is 1:09. And essentially it as the three teasers re-edited together. Oh well. I'm still giddy as heck for this film.

I agree - Do see Alien3. It's pretty decent even though a lot of hardcore alien fans hate it. I just wish we could have seen the David Fincher edit of the film instead of the released version which the studio re-edited after they got it from Fincher.

Alien 4 just please please please skip. One of the 10 worst films ever made. And then the Alien vs. Predator movies were essentially a videogame come to the big screen. Pretty lame, but still a million times better than Alien 4.

    Re: Prometheus

Looks like the ship at the end of the trailer is the same as that belonging to the 'space jockey' in the first film (as far as I can tell). I hope this is as good as it looks - I can't wait to see it!

"Alien" is in my top 5 favorite films of all-time. "Aliens" is probably right up there also. "Alien" scared the crap outta me when I saw it for the first time on tv as a kid. Mom wouldn't let me see it in the theater when it came out. She thought 10 was too young for that kind of movie (she was probably right). Although she went to see it.

Oh, and agree with what people are saying about "Alien3." I didn't like it when I saw it in the theater, but it has aged fairly well and it's become easier for me to appreciate it now. I think expectations were unrealistically high at the time it was released. It couldn't quite deliever on the same level as the first two films, thus was considered a disappointment. But do check it out if you have the chance.

Not sure what to think of this movie, defiantly looks like Alien, but the aliens look different.

    Re: Prometheus

Definitely looks awesome! I don't have near the background in storyline that most of you guys do but on visuals alone this looks to be a must see. Add in Fassbender and Charlize and I'm there!
