    Any NYPD Blue fans?

I've been watching Season 1 on Amazon Prime. What a great show! I can't believe it was 18 years ago.

Caruso was a cool cat as Det. John Kelly. I wish he'd have stuck around more than one year.

My parents used to be all about that show when I was growing up. A bit before my time, though.

Loved the Blue, even through the Rick(ie) Schroeder days. And it was good for some good rear-al nudity from some hotties (Sipowicz excluded)

You might also enjoy Hill Street Blues if you haven't seen that.

I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

Caruso was pretty good on that show, thought he was hot **** and tried movies, now he's just a jerk on CSI.

Is he a jerk on CSI, or <removes shades dramatically> or are you the jerk?

Yeah, after one season he thought he was hot stuff and "declared for the draft." His movie career didn't work out so well.

I also heard he became very frustrated with Bochco's working style. Bochco was a raging alcoholic and wasn't getting $cripts to the actors before shooting. They were almost literally making the storylines up on set and ad-libbing most of the dialogue. That's what drove Jimmy Smits to leave the show.

I kept watching all the way to the end and even Rick Schroeder did a great job on the show. The show did sort of jump the shark, IMO, with all the death surrounding Andy: His partners, his wife, his oldest son. It just got ridiculous after a while. Like how much can they put on one guy?

But, looking back in time now, the first few seasons were some of the best television I've ever watched.

    PS: Mods, why is the word "s c r i p t s" banned?

Yeah, I was pretty young when HSB was one but what little I saw I really liked. That was a Bochco show as well, wasn't it? I'll have to check if that's available on Amazon Prime or not.

Loved the Blue. great show. I have the first two seasons on DVD. I think I'll watch them over the next few days. It was controversial which got people watching it. It was a great show which kept people watching it.

One line from Andy Sipowicz still makes me laugh. Sipowicz and partner were inside an apartment looking for a suspect. He opened a hallway door, gun drawn. When the door fully opened, and a quick shot revealed that the man was sitting on a toilet, Sipowicz asked loudly, while throwing his head back, "Wow, what have you been eating, wild game?"

Yeah, it was billed as the first R-rated network show. Probably pretty average by today's standards. I remember getting so mad because one of my dad's friends, who had never even seen the show, went to KCRG in CR to lead a bunch of picketers because they were showing that "smut."

If there's an NYPD fan forum somewhere, surely there is a thread devoted to Andy's one-liners. Remember this exchange between Andy and his future wife in the pilot episode?

"I'd say 'res ipsa loquitur' if I thought you'd know what it meant."

    (Confused look from Andy)

"Ipsa this, you pissy little *****!"
