    Re: Defense or Offense?

I think this is alway offense for me except the year when ISU caused a lot of turnovers and scored on defense. I think it might have been 04-05. I also enjoy watching special teams except when we are kicking FGs then I always cringe.

    Re: Defense or Offense?

I'd rather watch a great offense, I'd rather have a great Defense.

    Re: Defense or Offense?

    For Iowa State:
    Defense (especially this year)

For pretty much every other team:
    Offense

Oregon, Baylor, Mike Leach, and Oklahoma State are fun teams to watch.

Seems so sum it up pretty well. But I prefer to see our offense on the field, and our defense only out there three plays(or less) at a time

    Re: Defense or Offense?

I guess I consider myself more of a defense watcher. Lots of guys don't get credit for what they do and they are usually the guys that are the toughest.

    Re: Defense or Offense?

Are we talking ISU or NCAA football or just football in general?

The reason that I ask is that I love watching college offenses but, man, NFL defenses are a blast.

    Re: Defense or Offense?

    ISU's offense is REALLY tame....

Our defense has proven to make big plays.

    Absolutely.

Give me special teams over offense and defense.

Of course. Who doesn't get excited to see Grant Mahoney trot out there? Even PATs are a total crap-shoot!

Really, as a fan who got hooked on Cyclone football during the Dark Ages of the early 1990s, I don't really "enjoy" games as much as I endure them to (hopefully) enjoy the aftermath. It's like driving through a bad snowstorm: you know it has to end sometime, but you're nervous and shaky the entire time just trying to avoid a huge mistake.

My heart was pounding all through that OSU game, and it was such a rush when Woody got the final TD. The same thing happened against kNU in 2010, but it felt like losing a $100 bill to a gust of wind when that pass came up short on the trick play. Nothing else can compare to those experiences; it's just awesome.

Truer words have never been spoken, weird thing is, is that my buddy decided to stay in and watch (me convincing him that we still had a chance) and he's so glad he did.

That is what I love about Rhoads, you think you know the man, and he pulls some magic rabbit out of his hat. Now winning against teams you don't expect to win against is the norm.
