    DVD Ripping software

Any suggestions for a DVD ripping software program? I'd preferably like one that I can download for free that is free of malware, viruses, ect. I've looked on cnet and some other sites but I'm not having much luck.

I use DVDFab. I have the paid version, but there is a free version that only includes ripping and not burning. You can rip and encode into virtually any format including portable devices.

DVDshrink hasn't been updated in several years, has it? I used to use it several years ago but then they announced no more updates and rumor was the creator went to work for Nero.

As per CF rules and federal law, we will assume you're using this to make legal backups of your own movies.

    Re: DVD Ripping software

When I make digital copies of my movies, I use handbrake. From what I understand, if you pair it with a good video player (I use VLC) it will rip any DVD you have in your home collection.

Note, I have an iMac, but a friend uses the same for his Windows 7 machine.

Yes. Just like we'll assume you've paid the appropriate royalties to secure the rights to your avatar.

And to yours, yes. However, luckily we aren't asking for advice on ways around paying royalties.
