Q&A: One-on-one with the Voice of the Scarlet Knights

    Fanatics -

I caught up with Chris Carlin, Rutgers' John Walters, earlier this week for an interview to preview the Pinstripe Bowl.

    Enjoy.

Doesn't sound like that guy could even name one player on our team - I'm guessing he starts his game prep Dec. 29th.

His quote about which one of the two quarterbacks will start for Scarlet Knights made me laugh:

At least from what I can gather, it is still something that is kind of evolving at the moment. It’s definitely a possibility that either guy could get the nod.

    REALLY? No **** Sherlock.

I would agree with you if he were actually coaching the team.

This article makes him look unprofessional. Think about if John Walters was asked to do the same thing Chris (Williams) asked this guy to do.

No way does John Walters give the same kind of responses. I would almost bet Walters knows more about the Scarlet Knights than this guy does.

He sounded like a coach with the old traditional "I'll grant you an interview, but I won't say anything" approach to answering questions.

I sort of agree with you, but there are ways to give non-answers which make you look good, and ways to give non-answers that make you look like you don't know crap.

This guy comes off looking like he doesn't know diddley.

I've got no problem with that, either. Neither approach is real flattering to the Rutgers guy. He really didn't offer anything, any way we look at it.

Re: Q&A: One-on-one with the Voice of the Scarlet Knights

CF: From what you know of Iowa State, is there a matchup, an angle to the game, whatever, that concerns you the most from a Rutgers standpoint about the Cyclones?
CC: Not really anything in particular other than the fact that you obviously know that the ability is there to play at a very high level considering they have that quality win among others this year against a team that had an argument to be playing for the national championship. That speaks a lot about what they are capable of doing. I think that from that standpoint, they don’t really focus on one aspect of them. They just know what this team is capable of, period
so you know we beat the #2 in the country, but have NO idea what offense or defensive schemes we run. Got it. Good prep

There is zero reason for the "university media" to not be totally upfront with a little analysis of either team. The depth they will be able to project will mean nothing in the grand scheme of what the coaches will glean through a month of film study. This guy is uninformed. If this is an example of what he gives his Rutgers audience, he is doing them a huge disservice on game day. I feel sorry for the Rutgers fans if that is the case.

Yeah, wasn't real impressed either. All he could do was talke about the win against OSU. I mean you'd think he might mention UConn or Iowa too.

Hilton Coliseum was specifically built to hold in sound with a solid concrete structure, steel doors, and a crowd that sits just a few feet from the court. With a fan base that frequently ranks among the nations largest crowds, players from opposing teams, as well as Iowa State, have said that the floor has shaken due to the loudness of the crowd

Sounds like East Coast cocky. He may be a little like our Boston connection sportscaster who moved a year ago. Er, what was his name?

I predict that our Special teams will make a big difference in the game.

Sounds like our qb situation is eerily similar. Do they have a Woody Workhorse?

The key will be clamping down on Sanu. Little Sanu offense means a slugfest.
