Anyone See Seger Last Night in Des Moines?

If so...how was it? Can't believe I couldn't fit it into my schedule...

My old man went. Sounded like it was a blast. Wish I had been able to work it in.

In 1984, I was hospitalized for approaching perfection.

Didn't go myself but a guy at work just told me it was outstanding.

I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

Some on this board had to go last night...maybe they are still in bed sleeping it off?

I am kicking myself for not getting there last night...

Had it not been for finals at 7:30 this morning, I would have been all over that.

Re: Anyone See Seger Last Night in Des Moines?

    Seger was great. My thoughts:

    1. Good crowd. I'd say 80-90 percent full. Most empties were in the 300 level.

    2. Cover band was decent, but they were done at 8 and Bob didn't come on until 8:30.

    3. Kicked it off with Roll Me Away, my favorite Seger tune. Didn't disappoint.

    4. Main Street live, with the saxophone, gave me the chills. Love that song.

    5. Hollywood Nights had the place rockin, as did Night Moves.

    6. Played Little Drummer Boy. Just Bob and his guitar. Awesome.

    7. He's still got it, even if he can't quite hit the high notes anymore. Great voice.

OK...now I am even more depressed about not attending the show! Thanks for the report! Glad you enjoyed it!

Re: Anyone See Seger Last Night in Des Moines?

I was extremely happy with the song selection. Only a few songs missing that I would have enjoyed hearing, but that was a minor complaint (maybe songs like: Betty Lou, You'll Accomp'ny Me, Still the Same and Fire Lake) and if he had played them the concert would have been 4 hours plus.

It was a great old school concert. Loud crowd. Straight forward production. Two encores.

    Really damn happy overall.

I forgot about Still the Same. Also would've enjoyed hearing Shame on the Moon. But like you said, minor complaint for an otherwise great concert.

Re: Anyone See Seger Last Night in Des Moines?

Seger sounded great and I couldn't believe the energy and stamina Seger has for a guy in his mid 60's. As others have pointed out, he has so many great songs that he couldn't do them all, but I was dissappointed he didn't do "Like a Rock", which is one of my favorites. But that was a minor dissappointment compared to over 2 hours of rocking Wells Fargo that felt like a concert from the old days.

Re: Anyone See Seger Last Night in Des Moines?

Seger is one of the last of the 70's superstars that I haven't seen. He never played close enough to where I lived or wherever he was I couldn't afford to go. Now that I live in Europe he plays DSM...wish I could have been there. I have a good friend that saw this tour in Houston and is going to Dallas. He claims it is as good a show as he's seen in some time.
