    Proposal question

    This should be good...

So I'm going to propose to my girlfriend next weekend. I booked a nice hotel on Pennsylvania Ave about two blocks from The White House. Planning on taking her out to dinner, maybe walk around National Mall, then propose back at the hotel. Any suggestions from the guys who have been through this?

(Spare me the don't do it comments)

    Re: Proposal question

I love DC. I'd pop the question by the World War II memorial, chicks dig fountains. My only advice, don't say much...

Why at the hotel when there is tons of great spots around DC?

    Re: Proposal question

Do it on the mall or by the white house or something, make it special. Is the reflecting pool by the Lincoln Memorial done yet? If it is that may be a good place.

Washington Monument. Not only is it a giant phallic symbol but it is masonic and pretty cool. But might be covered in scaffolding. Or, how about the rotunda of the capital?

NOT the hotel..............unless you're planning on doing some variety of the ring-in-the-champagne glass trick--or waiting until she has you cuffed.

    Re: Proposal question

After she says yes...you must say "I'M SO PROUD TO BE YOUR HUSBAND!!!!"

This is if she is an Iowa State fan...this will be great.

I proposed under a giant phallic symbol and it worked out pretty good (the ISU campanile).

Also speaking of that subject I would recommend doing this right after proposing...

    Re: Proposal question

Don't plan a long speech of what you want to say. You will forget it in the moment. Keep it short and sweet.

Also, plan on it not going exactly perfect. Be able to adapt to anything that comes up.

Ask her dad for permission the day before. Make it a memorable location, since the words will probably be forgotten, but the location never will.

    Not always the case.

She should have given you an indication if this is important to her. It depends on the Girl and the Dad.

I was going to elaborate, but there are so many variables to this scenario it wasn't worth it. Out of respect, if her father is still alive, it probably should be done.

    The Willard? Or the W?

Doesn't matter--I agree with those on here who've said do it somewhere other than the hotel. Sometime during the walk around the Mall would be perfect.
