    Tuberville already under pressure....

Friday - Tommy T fired three of his assistants....to me thats a good sign he's feeling heat to win and win now, not three years from now.....

Report | Tommy Tuberville Fires Matt Moore, Sam McElroy and Otis Mounds - Double-T Nation

Interesting note that is brought up in this story....Sam McElroy is supposed to be a heck of a DL coach and a great texas recruiter.

Two big time recruits that should be contacted immediately...

    Reginald Davis
    Reginald Davis - Yahoo! Sports

    Dominique Wheeler
    Dominique Wheeler - Yahoo! Sports

Both their recruiters, their contacts are gone...and by all accounts, if this does not go well this year, so could be tuberville. Use it against them!!!!

That's what happens when your program has gone to bowl games in something like 10 straight years, then he comes in and in his second year fails to make it to a bowl game in a season where Tech beat OU on the road. Only went 2-7 in conference play. Tubs won't be around long at this rate....

This seems to be a situation where the school and coach just are not a good fit

I hope they are patient with him. He has the potential to be very mediocre there.

Close, this is the first year Texh has not been to a bowl game since the Big 12 was formed. They were the only school that could say that.

Tuberville is finding out that coaching in the Big 12 is tougher then the SEC.

Just further proof that SEC coaches can't make it in the Big 12.

I think it's exactly the opposite.

I've never seen a school/program so blatantly commit program suicide as they did when they canned Leach. Leach wasn't a good "fit" with the school, at least with the academic types and chancellors.

At Texas Tech, they had never really had to share the spotlight with good, high-profile sports and coaches. Then Leach gets football going higher than ever, and Bobby Knight gets brought in.

Regardless of the overall level of academics, they still had never really had to compete with that, and once Red Raider football mania took over, there were a few there just looking for an excuse to get rid of him and put the program back in its place.

    Order has been restored.

    Re: Tuberville already under pressure....

I'm also surprised anyone is shocked that Tuberville isn't making it.

It's pretty clear looking at Tech's football history that the only way they're going to stand out is with a gimmicky system.

I, along with many others said as soon as they fired Leach, and especially once they hired Tuberville, that was the end of relevant Texas Tech football for a while.

Firing Leach was dumb. Not hiring the offensive coordinator (?) who coached the bowl game and would've kept that system going, was even more insane. But that isn't what the ones with the power really wanted. They wanted things to go back to "normal."

Fair enough. The head coach gets 3-4 years, but assistants get 1-2. Marty Fine, for example, was at Iowa State one year more than he should have (strictly speaking, he was here 2 years too long).
