    Re: Rutgers player from Iowa

My cousin played high school football with him.

That school (St. Ansgar) won State football in their class this year.

I'm not sure how he got past Iowa and ISU.

I live in Seattle now, but he is from my hometown. Met him last summer. Seems like a nice kid. Everyone that I know who knows him says great things about him as a person.

Tough break getting hurt. I hope he is a two year starter, and I wish DH and Rutgers well following the bowl game.

Iowa Western, right? Lots of D1 talent is coming out of there these days.

Also, I knew this thread would draw the Mitchell County natives out of the woodwork.

Well he was all set to be our starter when he went down with the knee injury. Sounds like he's back to 100%, and that a year in our S&C program is gonna do wonders for him. (Which it has for many of our linemen!) Although we could have used him this year, it's looking like he'll be the rock of our O Line for the next two, which will be the silver lining from his injury.

I don't know the guy whatsoever, but just based on his size and where he's from, I would not advise getting into a drinking competition with him.

Al, this comment and your other comment on Mitchell County are spot on, and there is now coffee all over my computer screen. Thanks!

Nothing wrong with being from Mitchell County :) and as to your drinking post... Im going to have to agree with you on that also... Living in the county has its perks.. I was able to play football and wrestle with Dallas in high school for one year (his freshman year). It was fun to watch him mature both on the field and the mat. He comes from an amazing family and is a great person. I hope to see him succeed out east.

    No problem!

Back in college I had a buddy from the Griswold/Walnut area (sw Iowa) who always claimed that no one could out drink people from southwest Iowa. He eventually set up a case race that pitted two teams (2 guys to a team) from north Iowa v 2 teams from sw Iowa. There were guys from Osage, McIntire, and Elma on the north Iowa team.

It was a landslide victory for north Iowa. Of course, in such a competition the only winners are the spectators.

Its great to place to call home, especially if you're a farmer. Great soil.

Another kid from St. Ansgar (Ryan Hannam) played TE for the Seahawks. Suprising amount of football talent coming from such a small town. Scaled down version of A-P.
