Bowl Game player gifts packages WOW!

"The NCAA allows each bowl to award up to $550 worth of gifts to 125 participants per school. Schools can, and almost
always do, purchase additional packages that they can distribute to participants beyond that 125 limit. In addition, participants can receive awards worth up to $400 from the school and up to $400 from the conference for postseason play, covering both conference title games and any bowl game. Each limit represents an increase of $50 over last year."

Wow thats a nice party bag!!!
    $550 from bowl game
    $400 from the school
    $400 from the conference

$1350 worth of gifts!! Merry Xmas!!!

Oh wait, we can forget about the post season gifts, etc., the stipends, the free attire, a free education, and free campus resources!

How is it a moral high horse? When that is what many scholarship athletes receive.

Yeah, not to mention if you didn't make a bowl game, "Sorry, nothing for you!"

Considering these kids cannot work during the school year, I don't think anything they get is out of line or not well deserved.

Spare me. How many $40K jobs are there around Ames for someone going to school full time? Not very fricken many, I can tell you that. I don't know what is so hard to understand about football essentially being their job that they get paid for through scholarship, free living, food, stipends and everything else.

Scholarship players do also receive a stipend every month for rent and such. Last I heard ISU was in the $800 range, Iowa was in the $1,000-$2,000 range. I'm not sure what the max is but I know that raising it to somewhere around $800 is something Chizik did which helps with recruiting.

Okay let's just give them key chains that say "I Love New York" on them and then send them on their merry way?
