Me too. He's going to build that team to be a powerhouse in the Pac-12.

If people think Big 12 defense is bad, just wait until the Pac 12 offenses get going with these new coaches coming into the conference.

Yup. Love his Air Raid offense. Washington State is going to be a fun team to watch.

I want him to stare into the camera at the end and say, "I'm coming for you, James. I'm coming for you."

Yeah I was actually a Wazzu fan before being a ISU fan...don't tell anyone. ISU will always be my top school though. My wife went to WSU too. We need to play WSU one of these days. My wife and I would be heading down to Pullman for that for sure.

If by powerhouse you mean a team that wins between seven and nine games every year I agree.

Which is basically a powerhouse in the PAc 12.

One of the questions asked by the press in the q&a was "why the fascination with pirates?" As Mike started to answer the question I wondered if this answer would take the rest of the afternoon.

Leach only had two 7 win seasons and they were both in his first two seasons at Tech. All the other years he had between 8 and 11 wins in the very strong Big 12 south. That is really good. I think most Cyclones would die for that kind of success.

What will be interesting to see is how well he will do when he actually has to build a program. Tech was always good at getting 6 or 7 wins even before he got there. WSU has been down for a while and he doesn't have some of the best recruiting out his back door. Pullman may very well be the hardest place to win at, maybe even harder than ISU. The city offers nothing and is only about 10 miles from another Div 1 FBS program in another nothing town across the state line. The city is a long way from anything. If it wasn't for Spokane, WSU would be a FCS program for sure. Not the greatest fan support, only decent because they have a easy to market name/logo and have stuck with it. Their budget was some 10 million less than ISU before the new TV deal. Leach has his work cut out.

I like Leach but can't believe he took that job. I have a hard time seeing him turn Wash State into a Pac 12 power. He won't get the players there like he did at TT

Or you could say he had between seven and nine wins every year but one. Although I'm sure Leach's agent would prefer your phrasing.

He's a good coach, Washington St is a tough place to win. The high school talent up there is a little different from Texas. I don't see him ever getting close to contending for a title, but I think he'll get him bowl eligible every year which is a big step up from where they currently are. I think it's probably a good fit for him as I don't know how long he'd last at a big time program with his quirky personality.
