Compare Shreveport and NYC, ignore weather...

Where would you rather be? First of, I hate Missouri for a NUMBER of reasons. I think their fanbase is just the worst in Big 12. I am glad they are escaping from Big 12 country and stepping into SEC with eveything to lose. Now, let's talk about Shreveport.

Are you happy that we are playing in NY compared to Shreveport. Let's ignore the weather for a moment. Let's think about the NYE in NY after a big win by the Cyclones. Let's think about the recruits in Big East country compared to Shreveport nation. Where would you rather go for a bowl game as an up and coming football program?

Shreveport. I only go to the bowl games for the actual game.

Whichever location is easiest/cheapest to facilitate that is preferable. Not needing a winter coat while at an ISU game in December/Jan is a perk I would not mind.

Lets Compare....I would say NYC by quite a bit

    the city: NYC>>>>>>Shreveport

Gametime: Independence: Dec 26th 4 pm<Dec 30th 2:30, slighty better for us, day after X-Mas, yikes!

Venue: Yankee Stadium>Whatever they call the Independence Bowl Stadium

Weather: Shreveport>NYC, but wasnt there a snowstorm when A&M played there?

    Things to Do: NYC>>>>>>>>>>Shreveport

Opponent: UNC>Rutgers, I would love to have played UNC

Didn't it snow that last time that ISU went to Shreveport?

I don't necessarily enjoy the thought of going to a football game in NY over New Years, but I also realize it's not always about me. The kids will have a great time and it will be a great experience for all, especially the seniors who worked their ***** off for 4+ years and deserve to go someplace better than Shreveport.

    No. Weather was beautiful.

It has snowed there for Ind Bowl before, though.

    Nope.

Way better chance of needing a coat in Shreveport than NYC

Could have drove and gone to Shreveport, but a bad bowl game for the university and our team. Would have loved to go the Shreveport, but like djcubby said, it's not always about me. It sounds like I'll be watching from the comforts of my home and be at Yankee Stadium in spirit.

At least with NY, you know what to expect. That's better than packing for 70 degrees and getting 40 degrees. Plus, it's Shreveport. Does Shreveport actually have any redeeming qualities?

A lot more of the kids would be able to play their final game in front of way more of family and friends if the game was in Shreveport, which they also deserve.

The Kraft Hunger Bowl should really be held in Shreveport and not San Fran.

To remove any variability, let's just move the game to Winnipeg.

Shreveport's qualities: cheap and easy trip to watch Cyclone football in December with weather we see in Iowa in early October.

Can you make that same argument if we were playing in San Diego at the Holiday Bowl, which is what most of the fans wanted?

There's pros and cons to each and every bowl. The kids are going to have a great time in NYC. They put in the effort to get to the bowl game so they can get the rewards. So what if you can't drive there easily, and it won't be 70+ degrees. They earned it, not you.

Re: Compare Shreveport and NYC, ignore weather...

Guys, it is NYC on NYE! If you were going to ever visit NYC and get the "full" experience, new years eve would be the time to do it.

Yes it is expensive. Yes it will probably be very cold.
But geeze, people would rather go to Shreveport than NYC!?
Rather play in a county fair stadium instead of Yankee Stadium!?
Rather visit a town you wouldn't even know exists (if there wasn't a bowl game) instead of the largest city in the US!?
