Out- of- town season tickets holders

Work out a deal with hotels, motels resturants, etc for season ticket holders who live over 150+ miles from Ames. I KNOW that would increase season ticket sales and profit for hotels, motels, etc.
For me,200+ miles away from Ames, it costs me $330+ per game.--tickets,gas,parking.hotel,meals,etc.
Then they want you to caugh up $$$$ for NCC goodies??? For me,big fan,but it ain't gonna happen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Good bye ISU,Hello Iowa U.

I'm trying to think of a post in which you didn't complain about something.

The part in red is an interesting idea.
The part in green is your option.
The part in black is treason. And you call yourself a big fan?

Re: Out- of- town season tickets holders

Basically what he is saying is that he can't afford to be a ISU fan. So instead he will spend 200 miles less driving each home game and save the gas money to be a Iowa fan.
I would say that is the definition of a fair weather fan at it's best. Though the weather isn't to fair in eastern Iowa either....

    Good bye ISU,Hello Iowa U.
Hotel options: Marshaltown has budget hotels, with one night stay. So does Story City, Boon, Ankeny and Cedar Rapids.
Tickets:Buy a $99. hillside seat and move to a seat on the end of the stadium.
Food, bring a cooler and make sandwiches.
For Gas, dump the SUV and get a used taures, 30 miles per gallon.
I think you'll find that it costs more to go to an Iowa game, and all you will hear is boos and there is NO place to tailgate. If you go to a bar there and pay $6. a beer, there goes your savings. Two beers and you could buy a case of Busch Light.

Re: Out- of- town season tickets holders

This is a funny post to me. You should go to Iowa City and scream "I had to pay $330 to go to a game in Ames!!"

Your $330 sounds pretty cheap compared to what you're going to pay for Iowa games. Good luck!!

Here is an article about Hawkeye fans complaining about their "hotel deals." Apparently Jamie Pollard is not the only one to understand the concept of supply and demand.

In IC they make you pre-pay for MINIMUM of two nights and bundle them with other weekend home games

    LINK

"The end result was Reglein paid about $800 for two rooms for two nights, when his preference would have been one room for one night."

"It's outrageous,'' Pomeroy, a UI alumnus and I-Club member, said of the hotel policies. “I mean, when you consider what I put in for gas and tailgating and hotel - and tickets - you're figuring no less than $1,000'' every home game.

Re: Out- of- town season tickets holders

hahaha... if you choose Iowa hotels will cost you more:

    CR Gazette:

IOWA CITY - John Reglein figures he spent $600 on hotel rooms he didn't want the weekend of this season's University of Iowa football home opener against Syracuse.

“It kind of sucks, but there's not much I can do about it,'' said Reglein, 59, who lives about 200 miles west of Iowa City in Carroll.

Reglein was referring to Iowa City-area hotels that require customers to book rooms for both Friday and Saturday nights on home football weekends, like the one ending today, and the hotels' stringent cancellation policies on those dates.

I have a co-worker that pays $1,000 a year for a tailgate spot and that doesn't go to the Athletic Dept.

What kind of "big fan" posts this kind of crap on a cyclone message board?

Also, if you are going to rant, at least use your spell check (COUGH)!

My guess is this "fan" has never attended an ISU game. Now where is that "troll" emoticon when you need it...?

Re: Out- of- town season tickets holders

I currently live in Cedar Falls and I would much rather drive an hour and a half west to Ames than an hour and a half south to Iowa City. Even if I lived in Iowa City (which my hometown Muscatine isn't TOO far away from...) I would rather drive 136 miles to Ames instead of "tailgating" (cough cough, its hard to even call it that) in Iowa City. If you think its expensive to be an ISU fan and pay for tickets to games/lodgings in Ames/tailgating, etc. Being an iowa fan is WORSE (I KNOW BECAUSE I USED TO BE ONE WHEN I WAS YOUNGER!!!!) I would much rather pay $15 to park in a grass lot outside JTS AND to drink AND cook burgers with neighbors than pay $15 JUST TO PARK MY CAR ON SOMEONE'S LAWN IN IOWA CITY! Think its hard financially being an ISU fan distant from Ames? Try being a Florida fan or a USC fan...if you think becoming a hawk fan will be more financially beneficial, let me tell you (from experience) It ISN'T. I am a poor friggin' college student at UNI who still pays for season tickets to his favorite team's school that happens to play halfway across the state. The distance doesn't matter...and that's what being a diehard fan is...and to be a Cyclone fan - you MUST be a DIEHARD. (btw-I thought it was funny someone mentioned getting a Taurus, cuz that's all my broke *** can afford to drive, lol.)

GO CYCLONES! Cardinal and Gold till I die. My money (or lack thereof) will never stop my love for Iowa State.
