They will come in droves, it will be their last bowl game for the foreseeable future.

Re: Missouri to play in the Independence Bowl

I'm not a Missouri fan, but I actually think it will be easier for them to win in the SEC then the Big XII.

Missouri gets to play four lousy teams in the non conference, and all they will need is two conference wins to get to bowl eligibility. The well oiled cheaters of the SEC are no doubt going to be tough, but the bottom half of the SEC is probably easier then the bottom half of the Big XII. Missouri's strength of schedule will most likely be easier then it was in the Big XII.

I agree, at the beginning. Most of their recruiting comes from Texas. Tinkel already said he needs to shift his recruiting. Mo becomes the far away wasteland in SEC eyes and recruiting is tough.

You might be on to something. Vandy, Ole Miss, Kentucky, Miss St, A&M, and Tenn are all very winnable. Even Georgia.

    For now.
But their recruiting will start to suffer. They won't keep pulling in Texas talent when they will only play in Texas 1 time every 4 years. They will have to start recruiting talent from the SE, which will choose Misery last as a place to go.

Why did Texas recruits come to Missouri? It's just as cold, and just as far away.

Missouri won't get the guys that Alabama, LSU, and Florida want. But they'll get some of the ones Arkansas, Tennessee, and South Carolina want, and hopefully they'll continue to coach them up enough to win some games.

BTW, they'll play in TX every other year...TAMU is rumored to be the protected rival.

Because they get to play back in Texas a couple times per year, plus they have Texas exposure for basically every Big 12 game. Unless it's a prime-time game for some reason, the Mizzouri-Ole Miss matchup probably won't be televised in Texas.

Re: Missouri to play in the Independence Bowl

By joining SEC Missouri truly becomes a Misery. They will not see more wins or more recruits for that matter in SEC country. Everyone would rather play in already established SEC schools than coming up North to play in the state of Misery. I live in St Louis, MO and I would rather play in other SEC schools than Missouri if I were a Zoo fan.

UNC is the flagship state university with Public Ivy reputation huge tv market built in fan base geographical footprint and basketball power to boot. Its the school the SEC wanted, much higher on its wish list than Missouri.

Re: Missouri to play in the Independence Bowl

The only thing that Missouri might have going for it now is that they might be able to pull some kids in from the midwest that want to play in the SEC...not win in the SEC, but play in the SEC, regardless.

I agree...UNC would be a monster addition to most any conference. Except for 2 things:

    1) The ACC is a stable, growing conference that nobody seems to want to leave
    2) The ACC takes basketball just as seriously as UNC does

After TAMU, the SEC decided that Missouri was the best option available to round out the conference to 14. I'm sure that there were other schools that were higher on a "wish list," but none of them wanted to leave their current conference.

I do agree with the opinion that Missouri's recruiting will fall off over time. The SEC is a cesspool of cheaters equivalent to the old SWC. I wish them luck in that good ol boy hell hole.

They came to Missouri because they got to play in Texas all the time.

Ok, so they get to play in TX every other year? Wow, that's a lot! "Hey mom and dad, I'll get to play back at home twice during my entire 4 years of school!"

Whatever way you look at it, MU's recruiting is going to fall off and you will start to notice it in just a couple of years.
