Comment about the Selection Sunday Bowl Blog

Am I the only one annoyed by the projected teamís proximity to the bowl games Chris mentioned in todayís Bowl Blog? I would love the Holiday Bowl, but to play California? How fair is that? And, now what seems more realistic, the Pinstripe Bowl against the Rutgers, how close are they?

Two HUGE ways this hurts ISU; 1. No matter which bowl out of those two the other team is almost guaranteed to send way more fans than ISU, just because of proximity. That could make us lose the reputation that our fans travel well if we are outnumbered by a large amount. 2. It pretty much gives the other team home field advantage just because they are located so close.

Bottom line, I am okay with any bowl, but don't want the other team to have a huge advantage and ISU to look bad fan support wise just because some other school lucked out and got into a bowl thatís a 1 hour drive away from their school. Am I the only one annoyed by this?

Bowl games do this all over the country though. It's a way for the bowl game to assure that its stadium won't be empty. The Pinstripe Bowl has no idea how many fans Iowa State will bring out east, but it's a piece of cake for Rutgers fans to get to the game.

It's annoying for a program like Iowa State but unfortunately, it's just the way that things work.

bowls are about butts in seats, since no bowl will ever be in Iowa, its just part of it . Iowa State will send plenty of fans to a game that excites the base, I doubt NYC fits that bill thus why they have Rutgers slotted... I do find it interesting how quickly people go from "we are terrible" to complaining about the possible bowl assignment

Sounds like we need a Hog Bowl in Jack Trice stadium so we can have the same advantage.

The inaugural (and highly touted) Cenex Bacon Bowl is slated for Dec 28,2013. Bidding still active between UNI,U of I, ISU, and an open field in Goldfield.

espn is projecting isu versus purdue in dallas january 2nd in the 'ticket city'.

As far as depth goes though, the combination of White, Woodbury, Olaseni, Basabe, and Uthoff is much better than Niang, Ejim, Edozie, Gibson. Not because of the top 2, but because of the next 2 or 3. -DeanVogs

No offense but playing cal in the holliday bowl would be great. Cal is way north of sandiego and there fans are to busy hugging trees to travel

Nobody but HB knows for sure. You pretty much know nothing....like Knownothing would like to say.
