    Wedding Planning

Any Advice? Trying to go as cheap as we can, but still classy. Any suggestions of Venues, Catering, ect. I heard Hickory Park is really cheap for Catering.

Looking in Des Moines/Ames area. Fiance is from Iowa Falls, so we could do it there too.

Be supportive. Act like you have an opinion, but don't make it a strong enough one that it disagrees with her's. Good luck.

Don't know much about the Iowa Falls area but it would have to be cheaper than DSM/Ames. Looks like a big enough area to have decent venues.

Be sure to find a DJ or a friend charismatic enough to lead the reception. If you go the DJ-less route and provide your own music, get a laptop with iTunes and take requests from your guests by putting a spot for requests on your RSVPs.

Not trying to hijack the thread but I am still looking for a DJ for my wedding next summer. Anyone have any suggestions for the CR area?

Fly to Mexico or Jamaica and get married at an all inclusive. It will cost you $3500 for a week and then the honeymoon is covered also. If I had it all over to do again, that is what I would do.

    Re: Wedding Planning

My wife and I had our reception at the Stoney Creek Inn in Johnston (we were married in 2004). Pretty nice place, we payed $1000 for the large banquet room. They did all the decorating, tear down and clean up. We had to pay for our own food, I think it ended up being $12/plate. This was not too bad compared to the other stuff we looked at. We paid for 3 kegs at like $225 each which was standard at the time.

We made our own invites which saved some cash.

And after the wedding, repeat every day for the rest of your life.

Ah yes...I remember setting up the food and stuff for my wedding this summer and I lost my "keg price" v-card.

    I miss the Keg Shop.
