    Sledge?

Anyone close enough to the team really know what the deal is with him. So he's ****** because he doesn't get to play. That is a natural reaction to the situation. Does he not show ability in practice? Has he gotten on Fred's list because he shows that he is not happy? It would seem to me that is he has any talent at all, as desparate as we are for a PG, we would no loose that much by giving him some playing time.

Obviously Fred does not feel he is ready to play. It's really not that surprising he's only a Freshman. It takes time to adjust.

    Re: Sledge?

I just assumed all the rumors about him transferring were true, so why play him?

    Re: Sledge?

I'd like to see what he could do. It couldn't hurt to play him in some of these crappy non-conference games can it?

If we'd ever get a big enough lead he's get into the game

Someone forgot to tell UNI's freshmen. They kicked our ***, no adjustment time necessary. All much-less heralded recruits, too.

I can't see an argument for Sledge not getting a shot in a game. Unless there is something in practice we don't see.

    Re: Sledge?

He should get a few minutes against Prairie View. It shouldn't be possible for that to hurt against Prairie View.

    Re: Sledge?

Fred is keeping the best players on the bench on purpose to try and get a better draft pick for next season.

So its out of the ordinary for coaches to see things in their plethora of time with the players relative to what we've seen from him in probably 3 minutes of playing time? How do you know he just doesn't flat out suck and doesn't deserve playing time? (I'm not saying that he does because I don't see him in practice every day like the coaches do.) I will never understand how people don't get that coaches know more about their players than fans.

I think it's pretty safe to say there is a lot that happens in practice we don't see (i.e., all of practice).

It baffles me people are judging how good Sledge is when there is nothing to judge given his lack of playing time.

    Everyone makes mistakes, too.

All that people are really saying is that the offense won't look worse with Sledge in there for 2-3 minutes, especially against Prairie View. Why not give him a shot? Worst case scenario here is that it rests the starters just a very little for conference season.
