    The movement continues

Last year after the Nebraska loss, I posted on here that we were witnessing something special. This year we continued to witness that.

Becoming a better football program isn't always linear. There are ups and there are downs. We had some down this year, but what happened this year is that we were ticked off when we lost to good teams. It hurt like hell to lose to A&M and Texas and Oklahoma and Kansas State. Those aren't bad teams, especially the last two.

I firmly believe that in 5 years, we'll all look back and remember when this all started. We'll remember the amazing wins---at Nebraska, at Texas, at Texas A&M, Texas A&M at home, Iowa, Oklahoma State. But we'll remember the tough losses too---Nebraska and Oklahoma and Kansas State. Because in those games, we found out Iowa State had a coach and players who were willing to do everything in their power to win.

Paul Rhoads is building A PROGRAM. And we are watching it happen. How cool is that?

    FIFY.
Agreed. It is just a slow, meticulous and (outside of the upsets) a frustrating process. Just need to make sure Rhoads goes nowhere and we keep forward progress.
Next season- anything less than 7 wins should be considered not moving ahead, no matter how tough the schedule.

    That's tough to say.

Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, & Texas will continue to have superior talent.

Texas Tech, Baylor, West Virginia, & TCU are either solid programs or quickly becoming one.

Kansas State should be down, but we obviously can't take them lightly.

Kansas should be a win, but then again, we only beat them by 3.

Throw in our non-conference with Iowa, and our schedule doesn't get any easier.

If we get 6 wins again next year, but it's obvious that we are more competitive and our talent pool has increased (both were very apparent this year), I will be more than pleased. We need to get back to a 12 team conference so we can start sneaking into some conference championship games and pulling off some upsets of the #2 ranked team in the nation there. Then it's BCS bowl bound. Bring in Cincinnati and Louisville to ease up this brutal football schedule a bit and it's not out of the question in a few years.

Of all the teams that ISU lost to this year the Texas loss makes me the madest. Just plain gave that game away with turnover and horrible penalties.............

Agreed. Not to mention the amount of hype leading up to it and the opportunity to (ore than likely) get into the top 25. But with or without that loss, what an amazing year it's been!

I'd like to see us play some of those teams again with the post-Texas A&M game defense.

Agree completely. The fact that we are going into top 15 teams houses, expecting to compete and competing shows a lot about the progress of the program.
